Great spot for casual dinner or date night. Tastefully decorated with a picture window through a book case for the kitchen or a turn of the century bar top. The staff were friendly and attentive. Food was comfort items overall and also well done. There was some variability in the salt of each dish, but it was on the side of needing a little extra salt for our taste which was easily remedied.

We had an amazing time last night at this tavern! Sam was great at creating a fun, social atmosphere that kept up there until almost closing time, the drinks were great and we will definitely come back next time we'll be in the area ?

We recently moved to the area and a local told us to come. Came for the first time last night and it did not disappoint! Love the ambience, feels like an old world library. The red blend wine I had was fantastic. We did the tavern arincini as an appetizer and it was great and perfect portion so we did not ruin our dinner-- which were even more amazing. The steak in the steak frites was massive and my butternut squash or ravioli was phenomenal. Will definitely be coming back!

Cosy pub in the Washington Square area of Brookline. Great place to grab dinner or meet up with friends without having to worry too much about reservations.

Lovely spot with great ambience. Unfortunately, the service was slow and the food unremarkable at best.Parking: I drove around for more than 10 minutes.

The ambiance is nice and the service is fine, but I do have one criticism of this place: they've gotten lazy about their menu. Others have mentioned the menu changing seasonally, but that has not been my experience. It always seems to be the same handful of dishes, month after month and year after year. I would come here more often if I could find more interesting changes on the menu!

Finally dined @ Washington St Tavern after a few years of following and it didn’t disappoint. Atmosphere just what I expected - low light, warm/comfortable and tavern feel. House Rye Old Fashioned made perfectly, burger 10/10 - crisp exterior, meat perfectly seasoned, cooked just right and some of the best bleu cheese we’ve had (can’t forget to mention the French fries), Scallops served with butternut squash purée and shaved Brussel sprouts were delicious and beautifully presented. I don’t get out to Brookline often, so glad I finally made it. Will be back soon.

A mere shadow of its former self. Since when has ordering a $33 duck entree meant receiving 1/2 of a 1/2 of a breast and a random portion/bite of drumstick (no thigh whatsoever). I don't know how many years ago it was that I had to last salt a dish, but it was necessary here - as it was my wife's bolognese simply because it lacked cheese and none was ever offered. And we both had to flag someone down to ask for everything. Our companion's $47 steak was a ridiculously cheap cut that lacked any flavor - much like something that would cost $8 in a bad supermarket .Service was spotty at best. Waitress had tables outside and never looked away from the computer while inside. Sat with empty drinks for more than 10 minutes before we flagged someone else down.Definitely not worth the trip any more. It's like original dishes have been cheapened by lower quality ingredients or valued chefs have been replaced by replaceable cooks that don't have access to the original recipes.Sad. RIP old friend.

Excellent menu that changes seasonally with locally sourced ingredients. Phenomenal wine list! The owner, Gerry Finnegan, is a wine savant and on any given day may have a secret stash so if you don't see what you want, just ask him. It's a warm, cozy spot not to be missed!

Great food, nicely curated beers list, and the owner is one of the nicest people you'll meet. And you will meet him!

I wish I could give a higher rating considering the restaurant is beautiful and the menu looks delicious but that's wherein lies the problem-my boyfriend and I came here because we heard nothing but great things, and all we were able to have was one drink. We sat at the bar and were greeted with menus, ordered our drinks and hesitated with ordering food as we were just enjoying the atmosphere. We were never asked again if we wanted another drink, we sat there for close to 20 minutes without being acknowledged until we took out a card to pay-the manager gladly came over to run our card but not once asked if he could get us anything else. I work in the industry and that was some of the worst service I have ever received. Needless to say we will not be returning.
