Good coq au vin, although they serve it over fettuccine, which was unexpected but still very good. Nice atmosphere. Great service and great wine list.

The Batifol was our regular "Friday night dine out" for a long time.Last time the mussels were very badly cooked, kitchen service derailed also with other items. These things can happen. But the manager (a young man, obviously to ready for the job) treated us very arrogant and condescending.Result: no more.People make mistakes but people can make all the difference in how they handle mistakes.I hope the owner of the Batifol reads this.

Extremely rude staff. We went for the open steaks and they kept on making us wait 45 mins to an hour for each serving and our waiter was so rude (We asked for a bottle of wine and they brought it 45 mins later while we were eating our food, the bottle of wine came damaged and they did not even apologize they brought another bottle of wine without saying that the first one was damaged and we refused it because we were basically done with the food at that point. At the end, they still included it in the bill. I’m never stepping foot in this place. (PS: they call it relais de lentrecote but their sauce is not even the entrecote sauce please do more research before fooling your customers)

We decided to try Batifol for the first time since they have advertised 'Bottomless Steak and Frites' on Easter Sunday. So I figured it should be good since this event is not the first time they have done it.I ordered a dozen oysters ($1.00 each), and that was good. The drink was not bad as well. The steak and the service that really end up getting 1 star. It seemed like they didn't know what they were doing or didn't have a clue that the event is Bottomless Steak. I expected the steak to keep coming. They delivered the steak in small batches with an average 15-20 minutes in between. They bring the Frites no problem. After 2 hours, we gave up and ended up leaving, even not being full. Not satisfied at all with the service.

Disappointed, not worth coming back. We came for an unlimited steak + fries promotion. I’m not sure if they do this often or it was a one time thing, but the entire experience was very disappointing… They explained to us that the rounds had certain pieces of steak (ie 1st round had 5, 2nd round had 3 slices, and any round after that had 2 slices), which makes sense to portion out the food. However, in the time it took us to get our 2nd round (~40 min) we saw other tables receive MULTIPLE rounds before us and one server even tried to take my plate when clearly I was waiting for food??The restaurant wasn’t even that busy, so I’m surprised that they were that negligent in getting food out in a decent timeframe. It seemed like they were trying to fill everyone up with fries (to make up for their slow service or fill us up), but the least they could do is salt their fries or provide a more flavorful sauce to pair with the bland steak.

Vodka Martini and macaroons were phenomenal. Appetizers were below average, with stale bread ships. Main course was ok, although I didn't care for sweet mashed potatoes, not sure what the chef was thinking there. French fries were tasty, but significantly oversalted.Overall, the place is overpriced for average food they offer.

Enjoyed a nice lunch with friends here on a Saturday morning. We had a reservation and the dining room wasn’t too busy. Quite relaxing atmosphere. I ordered an omelet, and it was okay. The location is quite close to the Kendall square subway station. The restaurant also has a bakery section that looks pretty good.

Batifol had a promo of unlimited steak frite for $37 this evening, and it was a good enticement to try what was a new place for us. The restaurant is in a fairly hopping section of Kendall Square and has a cool vibe, with a curved subway-tiled wall above hip banquettes. We were seated at a very small round table at the edge of a long banquette, and immediately greeted by a server whose English was not really good enough to talk about the menu, the offer of the evening, etc. My wife ordered the steak frite (I had the mussels) and was offered a salad; we asked if it came with the steak frite, by which we meant to ask if it was included as part of the prix fixe steak frite offer. We were told it did, but later, when we were billed for the salad (which was puny and plain, but only $5), we realized the server must have thought we were asking if it came WITH (as opposed to before or after) the steak. Regardless, the bigger issue came next, when we asked a few minutes after placing our order if it was too late to order steak tartare and get it well before the mains. We were told we were ok because the tartare was pretty quick to prepare. She was right about that — it came out almost right away...but within 90 seconds, so did our mains. There LITERALLY was no room on the table for all the dishes, so we sent the tartare back after one bite. (It wasn't terrific anyway, though it was a fairly generous serving accompanied, preposterously, by two tiny pieces of French bread. If you prefer steak tartare with bread, you'd have needed 10 or 12 pieces to accommodate the amount of beef they served.) The mains were mostly fine, though neither the mussels nor the fries were hot. The steak reordering proved to be a pain in the neck, and subsequent servings featured some gristly end pieces that were overcooked. In all, a very disappointing experience. I love a brasserie, but I'm sorry to say we won't be back.

We’ve been coming to Batifol since shortly after they opened and have always loved it. When we came in this time, we were excited to see a refreshed menu with new dishes to try. Unfortunately something is up with the new menu— the new cauliflower and crudo appetizers both sounded amazing but were extremely bland. The crudo really needed some flavor added because the fish was flavorless. Even old staples like the steak frites were off— the sauce was way too salty. The mashed potatoes with the chicken were bland. The sauce on the salmon was way too sweet. We really hope that this was just an unlucky fluke, as Batifol has been one of our favorites in Boston, and we’d hate for the food quality to be taking a dip

So disappointed. Food was bland, meat overcooked, lacking flavor. Very overpriced. Could be a really awesome place but don’t waste your money.

I was here with a work group for dinner. The food was very good but portions were small. The highlight of our dinner was our server Kristen! She was well informed and so friendly. None of us had been to Boston before, and despite being very busy, she took the time to write out a list of things to see and do. Thank you Kristen!

Great lunch spot in Kendall Square! Very nice appearance, atmosphere and great service. A bit pricy for the portions. I ordered the quinoa bowl and it's was much smaller than I expected! Rosemary frites were delicious.
