Where do I start- 1st horrible experience was ordering directly from their website. Get to the store just to find out they were closed. They apologized and blamed it on the thrid party app. Order again the same night- they forget my pizza. But no worries they will give a large pizza instead of small. I recieved a COLD/BURNT pizza. Looks like someone refused it so they had to get rid of it. Horrible!!!

I've been a long-time patron/regular at Newtowne and was excited to see it reopen this year. The bar staff is SO friendly and the kitchen works hard to put out delicious food (try the potato skins or the clam chowder - seriously!) It's a great spot to watch football or hang with friends and play Touchtunes. Highly recommend this beloved neighborhood joint.

Eh. Used to regularly come here pre-COVID (takeout and dine-in). Pizza quality declined and somehow 2 pizzas that I ordered for takeout (cheese and a sausage/peppers/onion) were $35.31 total. For those prices, just go to Upper Crust or City Slicker Cafe down the road. People go to Newtowne cause it's cheap. They arent going there for the quality or for the service.Toppings are now $3 each which is fine for meat but a scam for veggies. I get that prices are going up but wow. Nothing from Newtowne Grille is worth $21

Just don't bother. I ordered a Buffalo chicken pizza and it took an hour to come out. No update or apology from the bartender, just a brush off that the kitchen got slammed with last call food orders at 8:30. But it wasn't busy - believe me. I finally got the pizza and it was burnt cheese, bubbles, no sauce, and mostly dough. It was a disgrace and it was $14 for a 12 inch pizza. I used to go to Newtowne a lot and the food was DELICIOUS. No joke. I ate half begrudgingly because the kitchen was closed at that point and I was hungry. Then I got to the more burnt half and I couldn't eat it- it was that inedible. I went to the bar and said "this is just so bad...". The bartender seemed perplexed and gave me a $10 email gift card - which I have yet to receive. It gets worse! My friend's sweet chili boneless wings tasted like refried beans wings and my other friends buffalo wings were the skinniest wings I've ever seen. Last, the bartenders didn't really come to offer more drinks as you drank (it wasn't busy).

Use to be a regular at this place before the COVID shut down. It had great food and cheap beer, along with a great staff. Now it's horrible. The prices are higher across the board. The food is laughable now. They have the smallest buffalo wings I've seen in my life. We got a burnt pizza that had almost no toppings, just burnt dough. we got multiple different items, and all were mediocre at best. The staff was fine, but it's not the same. We were told the kitchen closes at 9 on a Friday which is an absolute joke. based on other reviews, the 12$ pizza and pitcher deal is a scam which wouldn't surprise me if true. This place use to have a great atmosphere with regulars, staff, food and cheap beer. Felt like a "Cheers" type of bar. Now, it's not worth it at all. Sad to know the old Newtowne is gone.

Nearly turned around and walked out after arriving. Decor is very dated, music is on too loud, staff had masks around their necks but weren't wearing them even though the city requires them, and we were ignored for a few minutes after arriving with the staff walking past. It wasn't clear if we were supposed to sit down or find someone to get us a table or what; you sort of walk in immediately to the bar, so the people already sitting at the bar were looking at us like, "what are you hanging around behind us for?" The web site says both the bar and restaurant are open until 1am on Tuesday nights, but they aren't. We arrived around 9pm and someone finally came over and said they had already stopped serving food. So then we *did* walk out without being able to get anything to eat. Never going back.

Pizza was burnt, mostly dough, crusty inedible cheese, the pizza took an hour, bartender didn't update that it was taking long. Beers have gone up in price. The sweet chili wings tasted so awful.

Pizza burnt no answer to phone call trying to express how bad it was and still delivered it

They have added an outdoor patio area. So nice. With COVID it is nice to be able to grab an outside table. Service was still good too.

The pitcher/pizza combo is some of the best in the state

I just moved to this area a few months ago and have been trying to hit the elusive $12 pizza and pitcher deal.First 3 times we went to this place:1. Said it was open online, but was closed on a Thursday at dinner time. Wasted 30 mins walking to and from only to realize it was closed.2. One of 2 chefs left early for unknown reason (even the server had no idea why), so they weren't accepting new kitchen orders even though it was only 7pm.3. Pizza oven was broken so we couldn't do the pitcher/pizza deal.Just called for a 4th time today (Friday) and the woman who answered said that not only does the kitchen close at 9pm (it's a Friday in a college town, why???), but that the oven is broken and they don't know when it will be fixed.About to give up on trying this place.

This bar is a scam, I gave this place the benefit of the doubt too many times. Went there a handful of times for their “$12 pitcher and pizza deal” and every single time they came up with a new excuse: “sorry the kitchen closes at 10” “sorry the kitchen closes at 9:30” “sorry the kitchen closes at 9” “sorry we’re out of pizza dough”. Like its clear they just use the promotion to drive ppl in and never deliver, its frankly very immoral what they’re doing.

Newtowne has always been my favorite local bar. I haven’t been in a year due to the pandemic and decided to stop in. The food has definitely gotten an upgrade! It was the best chicken sandwich I’ve had in a long time. Beer was cold and our bartender tori was top notch! 10/10 will be back soon!!!

Very interesting little bar. I thought there would be a few tables outside but it was only indoor seating. We came in for a lunch beer and it was only a couple regulars sitting at the bar. Kinda awkward to ask for a table but the waitress/bartender was super nice. We just got a beer each and got out of there. They did have a good draft list!
