As always our meal at Dovetail was spot on. I had the snapper and my wife the scallops. Bother dishes were thoughtfully prepared, attractive and very tasty. We've been fans for years and have never been disappointed in our meals at Dovetail or their sister restaurant, Brewers Fork.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Charlestown. Each person we interacted with was friendly and knowledgeable. The service was excellent. The food was delicious. They have high end wine at less than high end prices. The ambience is great. We went in March. We definitely want to go back in the warmer months because they have a great outdoor space.

We went to the Valentine's dinner. With a pre paid 3 course meal, we were offered options ( 3 options per course). We couldnt have what we wanted in the first course ( Raw Tuna) they offered as a fish replacement we said no and went with the steak tartar, only for our surprise they first came to the table with the different fish they offered first. Secondly my wife and I wanted to have the Wagyu as the main dish, and again they said they would only have 1 piece left of Wagyu. My wife told me to get the Wagyu while she got something else. Guess what, I know Wagyu and that definitely was not what I am used to, and best a top sirloin from an Angus. The desert was really good and the server despite the mistakes was cheerful and trying his best. The music, although not for the Valentine mood, was good. Would I get back to give it an extra opportunity? Probably, but I dont the Valentine experience worthed it,

Went to Dovetail for the Valentine's Day pre-fixe menu. The food was excellent - everything was well-balanced, good texture, flavorful, filling, etc. Wine and cocktails were delicious. Fair prices, great energy in the place, etc. We've been here many times, and would recommend this place to others who are looking to have a small gathering. My biggest complaint is that the table nearest the door (where we sat) was drafty when the door opened, and we had people waiting to be seated on either side of us because there was no standing room near the door. But the food and experience was otherwise so wonderful that we didn't feel that having people standing within 3 ft of us was all that terrible.

I think the chef needs to really reconsider his menu. We had two main issues with our meal. The beet salad and the cream cheese (Petit Robert) dessert. The beets in the salad were excellent, but the other lettuces were overly bitter. That paired with the balsamic and blue cheese did not work. I don't know what the chef was thinking. Like what food did the chef grow up on eating, that he would serve that to customers. It wasn't tasty at all. For the cream cheese dessert, that might be one of the worst food items I have ever ordered. There was nothing appealing about the cheese served with the fig jam. It was laughably bad as soon as it touched my mouth knowing this was the dessert on the $75 pre-fixe menu. I think the head chef really needs to reflect on how poor these two items are and consider why he got into cooking. Food is supposed to taste good and make people feel warm and happy.

Amazing!!! The food was delicious - flavor packed and right to taste - ambiance was intimate and still fun - we were placed by the kitchen and still enjoyed our seating. Overall great experience!

This place is absolutely amazing! This was our first time dining with Dovetail, my wife and I were incredibly overjoyed with both the service and kitchen! It was our planned v-day dinner and you all made one hell of an impression on us. We will 100% be back to take another tour with the Dovetail staff.

The food was excellent. Great shareable options the vegetarian in our party. We are a group of friends who will always order dessert if the meal is great. Dovetail, we'd love to see you add desserts to your already amazing menu!

This was a lovely dining experience, however, some of the meals were large and others were minuscule. And no dessert? It doesn't have to be a huge offering, but some people still like to finish their dining experience with dessert, coffee and/or tea (and there was no tea...).

Yesterday's brunch at Dovetail was typically terrific -- a cool setting in the Boston Navy Yard, great food that's prepared with care, and service with warmth and a smile. We had the avocado toast with a poached egg, along with home fries and bacon, complemented by their signature strong coffee. (Not for the faint of heart!) Wonderful meal!

Before our table was ready we got a drink at the bar. The bartender was pretty slow in getting our order and taking our credit card so we could move to our table. But the service and food at the table was fantastic

Already planning my next visit! Food was very good to outstanding. Apps and salad very good, my campanelle pasta was the things dreams are made of. Great wine list! Service lovely--attentive, unobtrusive and not rushed. Space got a little loud when some larger groups came in but noise was still conversational. I eat here for lunch in from the shop but this was my first time in the restaurant. Can't wait to go back!

Warm and welcoming place with an interesting and creative menu with a good value to cost ratio . The snapper and lobster roll and steak frites were very good The wine list is eclectic and pretty deep for a cute neighborhood place. Our waitress(Olivia ?)was super friendly and nice

The food was excellent and the service was attentive and friendly. The noise level was rather high, making it hard to hear as we were a group of 6 people. The experience would be enhanced if the restaurant were to install appropriate acoustical panels t dampen the ambient noise level.

We had hopes but they were definitely not met on any account. The atmosphere is stark, with cramped, poor options for two people. The food and drinks are expensive, far more than warranted by the quality of the preparation. An example: the schnitzel is supposedly a special dish, but it was a tasteless, tough piece of meat with a burned crust. Other dishes were bland at best. The menu is overly ambitious and the food as served is disappointing regardless if price. We will NOT return.
