How is this place still open. Terrible food

Not happy whatsoever, I feel like they used to be good years ago, not so much anymore. I didn't get what I ordered, but was already home and the rice wasn't great, the boneless ribs were dry and burnt, the beef teriyaki was dry.

The crab Rangoon. Had no crab in them.lol the General Tso's Chicken. Was 20% meat / 80%fat.

Ordered for myself and a co-worker. Chicken and broccoli and chicken chow mein. Aside from the chicken wings which were great, the food tasted terrible. My order tasted sour and the pork fried rice was dry and tasted too many days too old. Same with my coworker and his main dish was greasy and sloppy. Tasted... alright. I didnt know this at first, but apparently the shop used to be great. Now the owner works the store alone. Phone calls, food prep and delivery are all on his own. He's a great guy and wonderfully warm and kind. The food is also crazy affordable with healthy portions. Wish I could say otherwise but until he at least finds more help, order food from elsewhere 😔

E-Shum has been here for a long time, I haven't eaten here in many years, until today. It felt like this place hasn't been renovated since before the last time I ate here (10yrs+) for all we know. The person who rang us up also prepared our meals, I believe he is also the owner. I ordered a lunch kung pao chicken with pork fried rice, honestly I've never seen it prepared this way before. It has the same ingredients like chicken, celery, water chestnuts, but man it looked like gravy. Usually kung pao is prepared very freshly and the sauce is very light not with a gravy like texture, and overall it was very dissatisfying, it tasted sour and nothing like how other Chinese restaurants prepare it. I'd hate to give a negative review, but man this restaurant needs to have better prepared food. The crab rangoon and pork fried rice were ok, but I didn't even eat the chicken in the kung pao. The building is very old and run down, I hate to do this to a local restaurant, but I'd suggest anyone to order elsewhere, any other Chinese restaurant in or around Chelsea and you'll be better off.

I ordered from here for the first time and will never order again. Special fried rice had only ham and had little of beef and not stired well. The shimp in lobster souce had absolute no shrimp is was not funny. The chicken wings were ok. Overral seasoning and spices was very poor

Very hard to beat for the price. Happy to have stumbled upon this nice little takeout place. Cooked fresh after ordering and prepared quickly with generous portions. Don't expect the ambiance of a fancy dine in, but you're not paying for that experience either, which is fairly meaningless for just a regular meal on the go anyways.

Sadly the food is not the same. I believe the ownership changed and the quality has suffered. Used to be a great place but not any more. Employees are friendly so it's a real shame.

The place looks horrible, the rice was horrible. I seriously threw away my whole order of rice because it just smelled & looked awful. Should have believed the reviews. Please don't order from here so disgusting.

Unbelievably bad. I mean how do you screw up chicken fingers and crab Rangoon. It was drenched in oil. Rice tasted a week old. General gaos looked and tasted disgusting. Smh I normally don't ever rate a place, but after today I have to stop anyone from eating here. This place should be shut down for disrespecting the culture.

Worst general gau chicken I've ever had in my life. It was dark brown and in a weird soupy sauce. It tasted burnt and had no spice or flavor to it at all. The chicken fingers were rock hard and barely edible. Seems like they just reheated food that had been out all day. Will never order from them again. I'm not sure how they're still in business.
