Saw this place on Phantom Gourmet, and was excited to come here and try the prime rib. From the outside, it looks like a nice concept with a part of the restaurant being in an old train car. Once you're in the restaurant though, it starts to go downhill. The front smelled like a retirement home and it didn't get any better when we went into the dining room. The whole place was dirty, the floor looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in a week, the chairs were grimy and looked like they hadn't been reupholstered in 20 years. We came here expecting the three cuts of prime rib that they were famous for, but they only had one and it was massive. It also came with potatoes and a vegetable, which for 34.95 isn't a bad deal. However the quality just was not there. The prime rib itself was bland and had zero flavor, my girlfriends prime rib was undercooked (she ordered medium, it came out almost rare), the mashed potatoes tasted like they had instant potatoes mixed in with fresh, and the green beans looked like they were cooked a week ago. Altogether it was a pretty disgusting meal, we ended up going to another restaurant for dinner. You can almost tell that this place is on its last legs and that they don't care anymore about food quality. The hours also reflect this with it being closed almost as often as they're open (11-6:30 on a Thursday night? Seriously?) Phantom gourmet should claim that they've never been here because this place was a disaster.

The best Mixed Berry Pancake. Portion was huge and it was awesome. Service was excellent. Highly recommend Bernie's

Worst meal & expensive! Fried fish served on a plate with water on it. The water soaked the fried fish making it mush on fish. Sent it back only to get the same again. They can't fix problems so they must not care! Must be the cooking or heating method. So sad that the local word of mouth hints not to go, it's not worth it anymore. No prime rib anymore either!

Too bad on their website they don't mention that they don't have the prime rib. Haven't had it for 2 yes now. However, look at the rest of the menu, they won't do you wrong and it's cooked to perfection. Had the pork chops and ribs, couldn't go wrong.

Never have accurate hours or up-to-date information on what food they have. Staff is VERY rude especially when calling or they never answer the phone...heard they were going out of business...maybe it's for the better. sad. I used to love this place during my childhood but now its disappointing. Next time, maybe answer the phone with saying "hello" instead of "we're not closed!!!" or have a better attitude at least.

Was dirty, They were out of their "famous prime rib" at 4pm on a Saturday after driving an hr. I checked social media pages and not one, said anything about prime rib being out. Apparently you should call. I settled for a steak as that's why we went. Agh! Horrible and chewy!! I do not recommend this place as either of our meals were good. Oh well....

We drove 30 minutes out of our way to get their famous prime rib only to find a sign posted on the door saying "no prime rib". What the hell! Nowhere is this posted on their website, and I think that is very shady! The waitress said they haven't had prime rib in 9 months!!! Prime rib was the ONLY reason to go here.

They stated that they would be open till 5 pm and their menu also stated that they had Prime Rib, on their website. We traveled 2 hours to find out that they haven't had Prime Rib for two months and they closed at 2pm. This was my husband birthday surprize!!!

Certainly an experience and one I hope to do again. A friend had come here and told us about it so off we went. We hit it around 4pm so we had a nice relaxed meal. The train car is rad and definitely adds to the experience. The prime rod cuts happens to be the claim to fame here and it is good and we all got different sizes and we're all cooked perfectly. So decent food and a fun experience.

Great local restaurant. Not fancy , but fun! Good food great prices. Fabulous menu. I have been bringing my son who has Down Syndrome for the Shrimp or fried fish.. his favorites. The waitresses have been so kind and respectful and attentive towards him. We don’t get that at a lot of places. We enjoy sitting in the train. There is something on the menu for everyone!!

Even though Bernies no longer has prime rib, their meals are still quite large and flavorful. We have been getting the baked stuffed scrod with scallops at lunch.

I moved back into the area about 12 years ago. A few of my friends kept telling me they were going to take me to Bernie's, because of the large portions they give you for a reasonable price. I can tell you that they were right. The cool part is sitting in the dining car of course. Their food is excellent and most of the time you're going to need a doggy bag, wait no. You have to eat the leftovers yourself they're absolutely scrumptious reheated.I went from not going for 12 years, to now I've been there three times in the last 2 months, and I've more friends that haven't been there, so I'll be going again soon.
