It was our first visit there. Our intent was to dine there in order to try the food because we are considering them for catering an event for us. 5 of us went. We each ordered something different, one had the pork, the other the chicken, the other a beef as well as their non-dog. We though that would give us the opportunity to try all of their dishes. We all enjoyed our food very much but felt with the sauces that were on our meals, we did not get the true flavor of just the meats. I then politely asked the waitress if I could have a naked sample of each of the meats. I did not want a full serving, just a tiny sauce cup of each of the three meats just to taste solo. She said she had to check with the owner. She returned and said that we could by a 1/4 pound order of each. We explained that we just had full meals and simply wanted a small taste...and really, just for the one decision maker. She went back and brought the owner over. We once again made the same request. He explained that he could not. "That the meats and process were expensive and he can't give it away for free. If he did it for us he would have to do it for everybody." He has a serious scarcity mentality. We then stated that we just spent $120.00 on 5 meals, a beer and a $10 canned Margherita. We were not trying to get anything for free. He then said that is not what he meant, insincerely apologized to my wife and ubruptly walked away. We loved the food but left very disappointed with the attitude and perspective of the owner. Scarcity mentality just lost him a $1,000 catering job...and for what...a couple of dollars of a tiny sample. Very disappointing because we did enjoy the food.

Coming from Texas, I know what good barbeque should be. The folks here know how it's done. I even took my Texan relatives here when they were visiting, and they loved it.The meats are all perfectly cooked. The sauces are delicious and obviously homemade. Never had a smoked baked potato until this place. ?I have had some truly horrific BBQ since I moved to New England, 7 years ago (not gonna name names).I highly recommend this place to anyone.

I recently had an awesome breakfast experience. The fresh BBQ breakfast, like the Piggy Bundy and corn pancakes I ordered, was delicious – I couldn't even finish it because I was so stuffed. My husband ordered the cakey cordon bleu, and he had zero complaints. The server was genuinely welcoming and attentive, from the warm greeting at the entrance to the helpful assistance throughout the meal. The great service perfectly matched the tasty food, making our dining experience memorable. This spot has definitely set a high standard for fresh and flavorful breakfasts, paired with top-notch service. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a delightful start to their day!

Just had literally (and I hate using that word) the best bbq of my life here (as takeout) today.Met Doug who was relaxed, very friendly, professional, knowledgeable and obviously proud of this business. When he said I just walked into the best bbq place in New England, something about the way he said it gave me instant confidence. Not uppity or verbose, but from a standpoint of a dude about to hook you up righteously. The pork belly was so incredibly good and I’ve had it in many places including some heavyweight backyard bbq-ers and this belly here was light years better. The pit beef was done very well and like everything else I ordered wasn’t hammered with smoke, rather it was subtly flavored and the au jus was a very good way to keep it moist and tender..which it was.Even the pulled chicken which can easily be like a ground up dish towel was moist and flavor well. The brisket was also probably the best I’ve had as was the pulled pork. And I thought not having traditional corn bread would be a detractor but turns out the cornmeal pancakes are a very good choice. Different and good (what could go wrong with honey butter?)Yeah I ordered a lot, do t judge me..lest ye be judged.I have no reason to drive to Commonwealth BBQ any longer. Thank the good lord.I’m just sorry I didn’t get more pork belly.Thank you. Be back soon and often.

Tucked away in a cozy train car, you'll find the best BBQ this side of the Mason-Dixon. With creative and tasty dishes, these dedicated BBQ chefs are following all the tenants of a great restaurant. The menu is tightly focussed, straightforward, creative, and most importantly, delicious. Personally, I've tried a little over half of the menu and have been blown away every time. The indoor dining is a little small, but did I mention it's a renovated train car!? Cool as heck. The staff is friendly and great at making you feel welcome, and the service is quick. There's no excuse not to be eating here right now.
