I used to go to Chau Chow every other Sunday with my parents for Dim Sum for many, many years. The food and service has always been excellent. Even now as an adult, I still go from time to time. These last two times we went though, was extremely disappointing. You order from menus now instead of the carts, which is fine, but 75% of the menu is crossed off. Their service is extremely, extremely slow. There were only 2-3 waitstaff for the entire restaurant; the managers pitched in but this was still not enough. Additionally, when the food arrived, some of it was cold. Lastly, when some items were no longer available after we ordered, no one came to inform us and we just waited. Good thing we spoke up or else we would have been waiting for a lot longer. I unfortunately can no longer recommend this place for Dim Sum based on the food and poor service. Your best bet is to look elsewhere like in Quincy or Chinatown.

I don't understand how this food was this bad. I ordered the beef chow foon and the beef tasted off. We ordered the salt and pepper calamari, and it was okay. But then we ordered the szechuan green beans with shrimp. It smelled off again. I had to rinse off the sauce to eat it. I'm not sure if they're just using old product or just terrible cooks. I'm so disappointed at this place. My wife wouldn't even try it because of the smell. We are both asian.

Growing up, Chau Chow city was the place to be for both Dim Sum and dinner. Great quality food and great customer service. The staff is wonderful. Can't wait for them to reopen so we can have dine in Dim Sum again ... Right here I have a few main dinner dishes that everyone gets. Ginger scallion lobster, house special fried rice, salt and pepper spicy pork chops, Mayo shrimp, marinated jellyfish, and pea pod stem. Great taste and portion is enough to feed 3-4 people. Definitely was able to pack two containers to bring to work for lunch. One for me and one for my wife. Love supporting local businesses during these hard times.

staff's service 10/10 the staff here was so much more polite than any other spot i been to in the area such as Chau Chow in Dorchester or China Pear in Quincy. they're very attentive and professional. always around then you need something. social distancing tables, dining room and bathrooms were all very cleanly. food 8/10 portions are smaller than other spots but quality is better. We got the sea conch salad, crab meat and fish maw soup, mayo walnut shrimp, ginger scallion lobster, jellyfish. all very decent HIGHLY RECOMMEND: steak and chinese broccoli! it melts in your mouth. not tough and chewy at all. Tip: if you want Peking Duck, you have to call and order ahead.

Really great if you want authentic chinese food for a decent price while also supporting small Asian owned businesses. My family has been going to this restaurant since its original location in Chinatown and although I was sad to see them move it's definitely worth the trip to Dorchester! The salt/pepper calamari and walnut shrimp are favorites. They have always been very hospitable for birthdays, graduations, and even my white coat ceremony for dental school. Last night when uber eats messed up my order they followed up with me to make sure I would receive my replacement order. Highly recommend and makes for great leftovers.

THE best Lo Mein in the entire city. Sizzling Filet of beef in black pepper sauce could not be any more tender. Chau Chow is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the city. The food is consistently amazing. Been going there since it was a small hole in the wall in Chinatown and for years at the current location. When I get Chinese other places it's never as good except for one place in the suburbs.

First off, what the hell was I thinking? After helping the bride & groom get hitched, hubby and I were starving and had a few hours to kill before the reception dinner. I had a strange craving for french fries and the dim sum sign caught my eye. The place is dark and the staff was unpleasant. Our meat was white and looked as if it had been flash cooked. Inedible is an understatement. Will not be back if in the area.

The food is okay and service is a hit and miss. I used to come here a lot for banquet and events. Other than that, I wouldn't come here just to eat with family. Food is quickly served. Dim Sum is so so. Good location.

Really good Chinese food. They used to have three of the premier restaurants in Chinatown but are now conveniently located on Morrisey Blvd in Dorchester.

I'm done done with Chinese food. We were so hungry. It's Christmas and we didn't have many options for restaurants. After carefully weighing our options, we choose Chau Chow for takeout. I got lobster which edible, but short. My daughter unfortunately got boneless ribs and pork fried rice. In a word, it was horrible. The ribs had a funny grayish color and a foul smell. She took one bite and spitted it out. She tried to eat the rice, but after two or three bites, she gave up. I tasted the rice. The worst ever. It was drenched in soy sauce (probably to disguise its staleness). Not only was the food not fresh, it was old and probably unsafe. I wanted to drive back to the restaurant, but she didn't want to go back out. We are so disgusted. What a bitter end to a beautiful day.

This is my absolute FAVORITE dim sum place. I no longer live the area however whenever I am in town visiting, i ALWAYS stop by for dim sum. I like that this location has plenty of parking. Every time i go, the dishes are always nice and hot as the servers are making rounds around the dining area with their carts. I enjoy the flavors of of all of the food as well. When i go, we typically order:- Shrimp Rice Noodles Rolls (love the sweet soy sauce that comes with this)- Har Gow (Dim Sum Shrimp Dumplings)- Siu Mai (Pork and Shrimp dumplings in a yellow wrapper); I always get the ones steamed in the metal container, not the bamboo since the bamboo one is lobster and costs more and i enjoy the shrimp ones-Tripe (cooked in ginger and scallions, the texture is interesting and it is chewy. I think it tastes good but it may be a surprise for someone who hasn't had it before)-Pork buns-Chicken Feet (I love the sauce on these compared to other dim sum locations - this one is actually flavorful)-Crispy Shrimp Cake w/ Taro (i really enjoy the crunchy bits on this dish)-Fried Shrimp Roll (not really sure how else to explain this, but it comes on the cart with the other fried dishes)
