A very professional yet intimate omakase experience. Chef Sang Lee definitely knew how to make his customers feel taken care of, and the rest of the staff were just as friendly. My only issue would be the price, I don't know if the $190 price tag justifies the amount we ate. Still, the food was delicious and carried special twists that make the experience especially unique.

So I'm posting this here because Google reviews is being shady and not letting my review there show up, but this man deserves it --so here it is: The truest definition of a hidden gem. This was my favorite omakase experience thus far. The atmosphere is very intimate and cozy, complimented with a super clean Japanese aesthetic. Each course set me up to have my mind blown several times all the way up to the final dessert course. I have to give a separate shout out to the wasabi though, because it was the smoothest, most pleasant kind I've ever had --even my partner, who usually has a lower tolerance for it, was able to enjoy it. The single hand roll in the 18 course omakase convinced me to book the next immediate hand roll omakase, and it was extraordinary. The toro hand roll add on is a MUST. This place is a MUST. Also, Sang Lee is a true gentleman --ensuring females among the groups get served first. Respect. To top it off, this place is tucked away from the city traffic and metered parking. Bless. We appreciate you Sang Lee, and we'll be back!

Amazing! What can I say that these other 5 star reviews haven't said already? My wife and I went for our anniversary, but you don't need a special occasion to go. Just go for it! The dedication that Chef Sang Lee puts into each dish is life changing. What I love the most if that Chef gets the freshest fish right from Gloucester and New England. Keep it up! We look forward to our next visit.

Chef Sang Lee is an artisan. He knows his ingredients, blending local and Japanese ingredients beautifully. My sister and I had the 14-omakase course. It was during Superbowl Sunday and the counter was full with diners!Elena was very kind in accommodating my requests for hot water and to lower the music's volume. I was sitting under the speaker and a bit far from the chef, so I couldn't really hear what he was saying. In which chef-diner communication being one of the highlights of an omakase experience.Really recommend this for a traditional Japanese omakase experience in Massachussetts, USA ???

Wow! My fiancée and I’s first ever Omakase and Sang Lee absolutely blew us away. You can tell how passionate he and his partner are about delivering the best possible experience for their guests. The fish was the best I’ve ever had. From the Japan-sourced Toro, Otoro + Uni to the local Scallop, Stone Crab + Ankimo (Monkfish Liver), everything was prepared exceptionally with meticulous detail. We will absolutely be back and was well worth the 1.5 hour drive from RI. Best sushi ever, hands down.

World class sushi operation in the heart of gloucester. Chef Lee is an absolute treasure and we are very fortunate to have him in our home town. Not suprising that people are coming from wide and far to check it out. Do not miss out.

The best sushi I have ever had, and I've had a LOT of great sushi, all over the world. Sang is an artist of rare ability, and also a kind local citizen who helps lift up the other chefs and restaurants around him (of all levels). His reverence for both local fish and the top-end products from Japan lead to a transcendent experience that is delicious, mind expanding, and even emotionally moving. You will have flavors you never tasted before. Sang's lunch boxes are like edible jewelry, and his omakase is a full evening of entertainment. His special events (such as "how to make your own sushi roll" are really fun and perfectly organized. Get the fancy wasabi (yes, it's worth it...) and the sake (perfectly selected).

The chef was very friendly and very smart. At the beginning of the omakase he asked if anyone was celebrating anything so at the end my husband and I got birthday candles on our tamago! The chef does chat with everyone as well as explain each course. I like how he incorporates the local Gloucester and Japanese seafood together. The omakase menu for 11/16/23 is below: Steamed egg with eelGloucester live scallop Cured Gloucester mackerel Gloucester monkfish liver Sea bream Lean marinated blue fin tuna from Gloucester Spanish mackerel Salmon roe Golden eye snapper from Japan torchedUni from Japan Otoro (tuna belly)Sea eel from Japan Tuna hand roll TamagoMackerel was in season and so you'll see that incorporated into the menu. My top favorites were the live scallops, otoro and golden eye snapper. For a dinner for 2, it costed us $400. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience. The chef even recommended the ice cream shop down the street called holy cow for dessert and the must try flavor was rizzy af.

Om nom nom nom!Been here twice so far and will most definitely be coming back, even though it's about a 90 minute drive from where I live. The (I guess you would call it) hot lobster custard that was the first course at both of my seatings (yes, it's an omakase pre-fixe menu) is phenomenal.Thank you for making my two birthday-related visits so very memorable.

Great ambience, service, and flavors!I have been to Sang Lee's twice now and each time was quite the experience. He focuses on locally caught fish from fishermen in Glouster.I highly recommend getting the fresh wasabi that he grates it himself. He proudly has it flown in weekly from Japan.I wish that I could try out his weekly lunch bento, but unfortunately I live too far away!I'll certainly be coming back here, it just gets sent to the 'Special Event' area due to its highly worth it cost.
