Thoreau's is the pub area of twenty-eight Atlantic at the Wequassett Resort in Cape Cod. We dined here one night, and at twenty-eight Atlantic the other night. Both experiences were fantastic. We loved the decor of Thoreau's, which is a little more laid back. All the paneled wooded walls in the dining room are really nice, but most importantly, the food and service at this establishment are fantastic! Both restaurants are a must visit, especially if you're staying at the resort.

The food was absolutely fantastic, every dish was perfection and the desserts were delectable! Ginny was our server, she was wonderful . Very professional, attentive and such a nice person. Our family all really enjoyed themselves. We'd love to do it again next year.

Thé évent was beautiful and very well organized. We had finger sandwiches and tea of our choice and lots of beautiful desserts. The setting was amazing and very festive and beautiful. I loved the event.

Thank you so much for such a lovely Christmas brunch. From the moment we were greeted we felt so welcomed and then we had such a lovely view of Pleasant Bay. Geri was our server and she was delightful. All of the staff was so great. The food was very good and we were so pleasantly surprised to be offered a box to take some of our desserts home. They were so pretty and tasty. We just needed a break to eat them. So appreciated the box. When we were given the pretty small box at the end of the meal we figured it was cookies or something. Then we opened and found the loveliest ornament! It's on the tree now and was such a fun surprise. Thank you to you all for making Christmas such a wonderful day! We will be making this our new tradition.

Really disappointing, the food was so bad. Under seasoned, bland, and overpriced. Couldn't finish the main courses. Service wasn't great either, just overall really disappointing. Will not be going back

The marketing team/firm for the Wequassett Resort should win a Clio Award because what you see on the website is most definitely not what you get. The resort is tired and dated, a mid-aughts convention-centered property. The tavern, nothing but a run of the mill hotel bar with food. When we arrived, despite having a reservation, they tried to seat us in the lobby versus the tavern. When we pressed and they figured out that Taylor and Travis weren't showing up, they magically found one. Service quite mediocre (we ordered the local cheese board - until we asked, no description of the 3 cheeses so pity the local farms that supply them - served with a stale brioche no doubt also used for the lobster roles). Sullen waitstaff. If you don't like the beautiful decor, charm, and atmosphere of the Chatham Bars Inn nor the top-notch service and food they offer, then Wequassett might just be for you.

Wonderful time at Wequassett's Santa brunch with a large party. Lots of quality and unique selections at the buffet for kids and adults. The ambiance is always top notch. The time the kids got to spend with Santa and decorating cookies with him was an extra bonus!

What a fun morning wearing our pjs and meeting Mrs. Claus! The food was not only delicious (warm croissants!) but also geared to the younger imaginations (all the coolest toppings for pancakes!) so we were satiated when we left. The staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We will be back!

The Supper Club featuring Michael Kwon Jacek from Ten Yen was incredible! The three courses plus dessert, each paired with a different sake were delicious. A wonderful way to spend time with friends on a fall Saturday evening. Highly recommend!

Excellent 3 course Japanese inspired meal with table side explantation of selections by both chefs. Dessert, welcome cocktail and 3 other types of sake were also featured. Sake rep also explained the differences and sourcing of the various sake options. Fantastic dining experience!

This was our first-time visit to Thoreau's. We were looking for a somewhat nicer dinner place for my birthday. At this time of year on the mid-Cape (Cape Cod), most places are closed, especially on a Sunday evening. So we ended up choosing Thoreau's as being a pricier option than we might have liked but one that offered interesting vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The Wequassett Resort does not make it easy to find Thoreau's in the dark - lighting and signage could be much improved. The staff were (mostly) friendly and definitely efficient and made us feel welcome, including a nice surprise of a birthday candle and complementary small dessert prelude to the dessert we ordered. But the squash bisque was overly sweet and too thick. The fish and chips were ok -- the fish was nothing special, the chips were a big soggy and nothing special, the "coleslaw" was on the slim side and could have been a place for the chef to strut his/her stuff, etc. -- but the entire dish was not worthy of the $27 price tag. And, c'mon, $18 for a relatively small slice of chocolate mousse cake??? Even with the flecks of gold leaf, the price is just not ok given the rather ordinary cake that was served -- truly, it was not out-of-this-world. In the end, we regretted our dinner at Thoreau's. From the prices for a glass of wine ($21) to the prices, well, for everything, we came away feeling that the restaurant is designed to cater to only the upper echelons of society. The quality of food — and the food presentation itself — neither can explain the prices that are charged. In the end, it made us feel that Thoreau's is designed to keep out the majority of society by charging such high prices that only those who can afford to pay - and who don't mind much about the quality of the food they are served - will go. What a shame. Let me be clear: if the food quality/presentation had been outstanding - then this review would have been different. Sorry for the poor review!

We went to Wequasett last night for “Supper Club” and it was amazing! Chef Aidan from the Dublliner in Boston was the guest chef and every couse including canapes, rock crab with risotto, Irish filet with mashed parsnip, rice pudding and a cheese platter was a beautiful presentation that tasted delicious. Each course was also paired with a different Irish whiskey that was smooth as silk and our server Patrio provided impeccable service. My wife and I have been married 43 years and rate this the best dining experience we've ever had!

We actually ran across this restaurant by accident looking for a different location. It did not disappoint! It's what I would call a classy restaurant with outstanding service and ambience. There were 6 of us and we were served promptly and courteously. The food was very good. At our table, we had Fish & Chips, Hot Wings, Spring Salad, and Korean Chicken sandwiches. We never felt rushed or ignored. I would definitely go back!

This wine and truffle focused dinner was excellent.,after a mixed review season, the new management has redeemed itself with a near perfect evening at the correct price point. The Food, wine, commentary were all the quality expected and delivers! Thank you. The noise level as the wine was consumed was expected and a larger space might have diminished the ambiance.
