Not a single one of the new age coffee shops in the region can compare to what the people at The VU can make for you. Pourover coffees, which are almost impossible to find in most "cafes" or "coffee shops" in Boston, are perfectly made by anyone in the crew. Kevin is not just the owner of the video store, he is a master of coffee. He roasts his own line of coffee with his experience and heart and it shows in every cup he makes for his customers. He, and his crew (special S/O to Casey and Zak), always remember all their regulars' orders and make them feel welcomed. No matter how busy they are, they always showed utmost respect and high level of professionalism through and through. This is a local business that is worth supporting for many years to come. I am so lucky to be living within walking distance to their shop to be able to enjoy this almost everyday of the week.

We were fortunate to find this hidden gem, that not only provides great coffee but also great service. They have by far the best prices in town and if you don’t own a DVD player, I highly recommend you buy one and check out their vast selection of movies to rent!

Their coffee is the most superior in Jamaica Plain! It has become me and my wife's Saturday tradition to stop over to pick up a coffee. Try the pour-over, you won't regret it! Love the selection of films and cinefile community space that they're trying to build there too. May check that out this winter.

A quirky gem hidden in JP. Superb, superb coffee drinks (certainly the only real flat white I've had in JP and the best in Boston (only other place that could compete is Gracenote). And a movie rental place with an amazing collection to boot. What!!

Love this place. If you enjoy movies, physical media, and actually good coffee, this is the place for you. Came here originally just excited to support a business that understands the importance of physical media and was then pleasantly surprised that they take their coffee just as seriously as they take their appreciation for film. For real, the coffee is seriously good and the owners/workers are incredibly helpful and a joy to chat with. Not a lot of seating so maybe best to take the coffee to go but other than that a great establishment.
