Went to the Haverhill Farmer’s Market and saw this amazing loaf of kalamata olive and rosemary bread. It is as amazing as it looks and sounds. This is coming from someone who isn’t normally a bread fan. I’m sure the rest of their breads are just as good.

This was my first visit to this place, and I tried their turkey Avocado panini. It was absolutely delicious. The crunchiness was just right, and the ingredients tasted fresh and of high quality. I will definitely be ordering from here more often.

Great tuna melt and tasty soups. Service can be a little slow but worth the wait! Very delicious food and awesome choice of breads!

This is a woefully underrated establishment. It's a fantastic spot for a quick lunch and to pick up some goodies and breads.First of all, they make amazing bread here. There's a bunch of varieties, and all of them are fantastic.(You can buy it in store and at farmers' markets)Second, they use this amazing bread to make amazing sandwiches. These are high-end sandwiches at normal prices, a great value.Third, they make take and bake items that are perfect for when you don't want to cook. The baked potato soup is a 10.Oh yeah....and fantastic treats like brownies, cookie, and croissants.Definitely a place that I recommend.

I heard about this cafe and was excited to check it out, thinking I may have found a new place to hang out and get coffee downtown. When I entered the first thing I noticed was the lack of music or anything a typical cafe would make sure to include for the sake of ambience or a semi-pleasant environment. I sat at the couch near the window, where my sister pointed out this sign. I don't even know where to start with this, read the attached image for yourself..... first off, what makes the owner think a sign like this would be good for their business?? it's genuinely one of the most unprofessional things I have seen in my life. the message made us extremely uncomfortable as my sister and I are both "young people". It created a hostile environment, and made me feel unwelcome in the cafe. The language in the sign is unbelievably condescending; the whole thing is awfully specific and seems like a matter that should be settled one-on-one rather than aired out to all your clientele. Also, how on earth do you expect to gain customers when you shame people for wanting to sit in your cafe? You do know what a cafe typically is, right? If you don't want people to sit, make it into a diner style place. It is so incredibly out of touch to blame young people for your business failing when 1. you're located between a highschool and a college and 2. your REAL issue is due to your own financial irresponsibility, not some teenagers hoping to use your wifi. The real kicker is this: the sign says you want people to buy something in order to sit in the cafe, but then the menu says you will change the prices at any time WITHOUT NOTICE. I didn't take a photo of that but believe me I was shocked. Not everyone can afford to buy something, especially if your menu isn't even accurate. Anyways, all of these factors have ruined the establishment for me and I will not be returning; it's a shame, because the location is great.

Branding and outside gives the allure of a cute little bakery, but this didn’t meet my expectations. Not much care was put into the environment inside, not the nicest workers, coffee was ‘meh’ and the baked goods were on par with Starbucks (better than Dunkin, but not really fresh).

Ten senior citizens from VT had the most delicious lunch at the Purple Carrot. A variety of sandwiches were ordered, some bakery treats, several loaves of Purple Carrot bread, and oh my.....EVERYONE was totally happy with their meals and all their other purchases. The staff was very accommodating and quickly put tables together so the group could eat together. The restaurant had so many wonderful sandwich and salad choices, it was hard to decide. I don't think any of us had the same thing, and we all talked about how happy we were with our meals (so yummy) and the service. I'm so glad we chose the Purple Carrot for our luncheon excursion. We went to Lowell to visit the Boott museum and ventured out to find a place for lunch. What a great choice we made! If and When we go back to Lowell, we are sure to eat at the Purple Carrot Bakery. We loved it!!!!!

We found the Purple Carrot today after visiting one of the local museums. The smell of fresh bread when you walk in is like heaven. We had ten in our group and staff quickly moved tables together for us. The food was amazing and several of us left with loaves of bread and pastries. Will definitely be visiting again and recommend this cafe for breakfast, lunch, and fresh baked breads!

Great food, great choices, great owner interactions! A group of 10 senior citizens from Vermont had a fabulous lunch here after visiting the Lowell Boott museum. The menu choices were interesting....and each sounded so yummy, it was hard to choose. All ten people were happy with their food and baked goods. It's hard to satisfy ten customers all at once, but the Purple Carrot did it! Everyone seemed to order something different, and everyone raved about their choice. If we ever visit Lowell again, we are sure to return. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.

The baked bread smells amazing from outside of the restaurant and is what "drew" us inside. It's a small family style delicatessen- soups, salads, sandwiches, flatbreads, smoothies, desserts, etc. It was a large conference in town so it was a little overwhelming for them to process but they did well. The food was decent and the prices (especially for desserts) were amazing. Worth a try.

Great vibe and the couch is the best spot in the house! got the brie/apple/fig jam panini...was great, just a bit too much on the sweet side. side of macaroni salad was decent, just bland. my friend got the cobb salad which was good. also tried the vegan fudge balls which were so good!! overall, reasonably priced and will be going back!

I am such a fan of Purple Carrot and everyone who works there! The loaves of bread are amazing (olive and blonde loaves are my favorites. Love getting them sliced to-go). The sandwiches are great, and I've always enjoyed my meals here. This was the first restaurant to which I took my newborn, and the staff has been immensely kind to us both every time we've visited.

Hot Italian sandwich was fantastic. I can't say enough about the flavor and quality of their food.Parking: Parking in Downtown Lowell is a farce. Too bad they don't want business in downtown to flourish

We miss having a loaf from The Purple Carrot every week. The food is delicious and affordable, and the staff is very kind. I'll never forget my daughter's first trip to a restaurant being The Purple Carrot. Everyone was so nice to the new, tired parents and the newborn!
