Great location in New Bedford, steps away from the Whaling Museum. Cobble stone streets, great old school look inside. Excellent Beer selection and food was perfect. Great staff and Bartenders. I've been going here for almost a year now and have never been disappointed.

I like the area & the atmosphere but they don't have oysters ? It's named after a shellfish. If you are bringing your girlfriend/wife, who likes desserts, be aware that they don't serve any. Apps & meals were very good. Our waitress was very good.

We needed a place to eat and wandering around New Bedford. And we wandered into the Whaler's Tavern. Seated right away. Ordered I think it was called the Irish Nachos. Nachos with waffle fries. Really good. She ordered the lobster and grilled cheese sandwich. She loved it. I ordered the salmon BLT. Really different and delicious. Food was right on time, and was very good. Waitress was amazing and very funny. Ambiance was genuine, not a tourist trap. Good solid food for the price.

Alyssa is an unbelievable Bartender. She always has a smile and makes you feel at welcome. If you want the best and I mean the best Mai Tai in the USA this is the place.
Great place for drinks and food. Small but comfortable. Staff is great.

Very small space. The Fish and Chips with the cornflakes & almond breading ruined the fish.I didn't get drink refills without asking. They need more servers.

Worst dining experience I’ve endured. The waitress sat us down after stating she’d be our waitress then the Bartendar came over with water stating she had our table. After seeing the table in front of us that walked in with us, receiving there food I finally stopped the first waitress and asked who are server was and if we could order. We received a broken shell quahog, the turkey club special was sent out dry, the Bartendar ignored us and forgot about my Pepsi after we went up to her and asked for it. Coming from a former server and chef, that was the worst dining experience!
Excellent choice of food. Great drinks and great service.Parking: Street parking only. Meters during the week but free after hours and the weekend

Had Quahog Republic the other day. A little dissapointed to hear that they were out of stuffed quahogs on the day. It's literally in the name and the one item on the menu that you can't be out of. They were also not serving pizza. To me that was 2 strikes. Had the clam chowder and it was okay. Had the fish sandwich and it was also just okay. Bun was a little overdone and the fish didnt taste that fresh. Kid had chicken ceasar salad and thought the chicken was a little undercooked. Strike three.
The lady who took my order was very nice BUT the food wasn’t great. I ordered a lobster roll with truffle fries. I couldn’t taste any truffle oil on the fries and more lobster could’ve been added to my lobster roll. I was very disappointed.

i like this place - it's a cute little spot for a lowkey drink or some good food. I really love the choriço sandwich that they have here with the roasted potatoes. their martinis are okay - would try again :)

Quintessential. Perfection. Easy. I visit NB once every few years and I always come here at least once. It's exactly what one wants and needs. Love the staff too.
