I was looking forward to grabbing lunch today at The Green Tomato. I haven't been there in quite a while, and doubtful I'll return. First off, I used to go there weekly when I was at Shetland Park during the day for classes. Always satisfied , fair prices and good food. Customer beware.... ask about prices! They have a photo right on the wall near where you order for a Turkey Avocado wrap with a dipping sauce. Price clearly states $3.75. Was in for a shock when the lady was cashing me out. It's not $3.75 it's now $8.00!! I would not be writing this, if it had been $1 more, but double the price!! Not cool and not right to spring that on the customer, after the order has been placed. Yes, I guess I could have said "skip it" and I wish I had. They need to change their prices on the wall, it's false advertising. Yes, there is a small sign that says prices have changed sorry. Hmmm. I feel it's a little sketchy and I really never thought I'd be writing anything negative about this place. The staff is pleasant but, to double the price on an item when it's advertised as $3.75 is wrong. Also no sauce with the wrap but, no big deal really.

I grabbed a veggie #2 sandwich here for lunch while I was in the area, it was convenient and pretty quick. The prices are very reasonable and the sandwiches aren't too big. They have a decent variety as well, a pretty good spot for a quick lunch.

I ordered a grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwich - and they gave me two slices of toast with cold cheese and ham. The funny part was that the toast wasn't warm either it had already become cold with the ham in cheese in the tin foil (meant to keep food warm).

Very disappointed with there baked macaroni and cheese use to br very good now it has no flavor not sure what they did wish they would go back to there other recipe

Great food, great people and fantastic service. Everything is essentially home cooked quality. I have never been unhappy with anything I have ordered from the Green Tomato. This is a family run business where everyone is greeted with a smile and fed potions that would put an elephant to sleep. If I could give these folks a 6th star I would.

This place is really good! It's in one of the building I work in which is super convenient. I get their breakfast and the homemade cookies. The staff here are extremely nice.
Green tomato has an amazing staff combined with great food. I love their chicken veg. soup. Prices are perfect.

I'm giving Green Tomato 5 stars for these reasons: (1) Their chicken taco salad is the bomb dot com. If you don't believe me, see photo below. Admit it, you want to eat that. (2) The people who work here are the nicest and friendliest of any restaurant in Salem, and if I'm having a bad work day sometimes I go here for lunch just because they cheer me up. (3) You can order practically anything here. You name it, Green Tomato probably has it on their menu. One of my favorite things to get here is a rice bowl. I'm not even sure it's on their official menu, but if you ask for a rice bowl they'll give you a bowl of rice, beans, veggies, pico and/or guac, for like three dollars, plus meat for a couple more dollars. (4) You will get your food quickly. I have like a 25 minute lunch break so this is important. (5) I've eaten here dozens of times because it's really close to my work place and by now I'm attached and possibly a bit biased. I love Green Tomato. Now, just to be clear: If you are visiting Salem for the first time and looking for the perfect lunch spot for your Salem day trip, this is probably not where you want to go. If you're searching for the perfect date night destination for you and your sweetie pie, this is probably not it. It definitely has a cafeteria sort of feel, and I don't even think they're open in the evening. I am giving 5 stars because what Green Tomato is is a place for people who work in the area to drop by and pick up a quick, tasty, and affordable lunch to go. And as far as this type of restaurant goes, Green Tomato really nails it.

I had breakfast here and I'm very impressed on how fast my order come out. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere being located inside a huge building. I would highly recommend people to come here. Also most importantly my breakfast was delicious. I had an English muffin with egg, sausage, and cheese. Finished it off with the home fries and a coffee, I'm for sure coming back.
