Everyone has been raving about this place so while I was getting a sticker across the street I went in and got a small Italian. It is very hard to get a real Italian Sub anymore. This sandwich was amazing and their bread tasted very good. I ate half of it there and took the other half home. While I was eating the owner gave me a small piece of Sicilian pizza and a meatball to try out! They make their own meatballs. Both were great. I can't wait to go back and I will definitely be ordering take out from them.Parking: There are a few spots in front. The parking lot is behind the building.

Kind of a long review, but it’s for 3-4 visits. So, a friend posted a photo of her Italian sub on Instagram, and it looked incredible! I had to try it. Picked up my first Italian sub on 2/10 after ordering online. The young guy at the counter was very nice and handed me my sub. Later, I realized that he had probably made it as well. Drove home and then ate the best Italian sub of my life. I don’t know if they make their own roasted peppers, but they are *chef’s kiss.* Anyway, I got the sub with lettuce, hots, olives, and roasted peppers—they were super generous with the goodies, and at the end I was dipping the last of the bread in the briny, vinegary goodness left on my plate. I couldn’t wait to go back. The second time, 2/22, I went on a random weekday day off. I typically work M-F, but I took a Thursday off. I had a bunch of errands to do that needed to be done during work hours, and I went to the UPS location in Saugus so I could swing by Sons of Sicily and get another sub. Their online ordering was not allowing me to add anything extra to the sub, so I decided to just go in and order it there. (As of yesterday, you still can’t order online and get the option menu of all of the items you can add on) Someone different was on the counter. She seemed to be busy, but she was very nice. I ordered the same exact sub I got last time, and I waited at a table near the back. (I think the “mama” they mention on Instagram was there, as the sweetest lady stopped at my table to make sure I didn’t need anything) The woman at the counter called me over to ask if I wanted any other condiments like vinegar or oil. I think I said oil would be fine since I was planning on putting some oil on it when I got home. She wrapped up the sub, and I drove home to Malden. When I got home, I unwrapped the sub and realized it might not be as good as the first one. It seemed to have much less of the add ons that made the other sub so perfect. I took a bite. It definitely had less, and actually none of the hots that I had ordered. I live far enough away that I really didn’t want to drive back to get my sub fixed, so I ate half of it because I was really hungry, but I had a moment of sadness every time I took a bite. I ended up going to the grocery store to get a jar of hots, roasted peppers, and I found some mixed olives with seasoning on the antipasto bar. The hots I bought was great, but the olives and roasted peppers were subpar to the ones Sons of Sicily puts on their sandwiches.I called Sons of Sicily to let them know about the omission, and to see if I could get a small discount on the next sub I got there. I spoke to the owner who was very nice and said he would take care of my next sub, which was more than I was hoping for, and I was impressed by the customer service. My third sub, 2/24, was through UberEats for two reasons: I could order online through the Uber app with all of the available options, and I really didn’t want to drive to Saugus. I almost never order delivery because of how much more it costs, but that day it seemed worth it. The sub was not as good as the first one, but it was better than the second one by far.Okay, I’m onto my latest visit, 3/2, I called and ordered my sub (same one, same add ons throughout all of this), and I drove over to pick it up. I went in and super awkwardly told the guy at the counter (different one than my first visit) that the owner had said to come talk to him the next time I was in. The owner seemed to be enjoying eating lunch with friends or family, and I felt terrible about disturbing him. He made good on his promise of a free sub, and I tipped the guy at the counter and ran out the door. I got home, and it was finally equally as good as the first sub. I’m writing this and wishing they were open on Sundays because I would seriously drive over and get another one.I highly recommend this place, and I can’t wait to try some of their other items!

Where do I start? AMAZING !!!!!! There aren't even enough words to express how much I enjoyed my experience here. I could go on all day but for the sake of time and for the readers browsing this, I will try to keep it brief. This place is a true hidden gem. The food is epic, the atmosphere warm and inviting, and the owner (Rob) and his mom (Maria) are outstanding people and the best of hosts. I enjoyed delicious food and a nice chat with Mamma Maria. For a second I was transported back in time and could have been sitting in my nonna's kitchen. Mind you, I am part Sicilian and I know what good food is, and this IS IT, trust me. The gravy (sauce) was out of this world and I was able to eat the beyond tender veal parmigiana with just a fork. I never even needed the knife (but it was provided). The pasta was homemade and the best I have ever had. Mamma Maria makes the arancini, and again, the best ever. Perfectly tender and savory inside and crispy and delicious on the outside. I would go back just for these alone. The cannoli was better than anything you get in the North End. Plenty of ricotta on the ends (just how I like it) and a soft, light, and delectable shell. Mamma Maria even threw in a complimentary homemade cookie she had made and it was awesome, like everything I enjoyed there. I cannot wait to go back for the Saturday Tripe. I hear it's a hit. The restaurant industry is very tough, I have friends in the business, and it requires long hours and plenty of hard work. Business owners are dealing with the same inflation-induced high costs that we experience at the grocery stores. Everyone is struggling. Rob not only provides excellent quality food at a reasonable price but he treats you like a guest in his home and takes every measure to ensure that you have a stellar experience. You get a true sense that he appreciates and values your patronage (a rarity these days). This guy has created the whole package in his business. If you do not try this one of a kind spot, you are doing a great disservice to yourself. In these uncertain times, it is of paramount importance to support small local businesses and this one is so deserving of our support. PLEASE go in and see Rob and Mamma Maria. Show them some love and support. I promise you, you will be glad you did. By the way, my very reasonable plate of veal parmigiana will yield 3 meals. Thank you Rob and Mamma Maria for such an unforgettable day. I look forward to seeing you both on February 18th.Your new friend and fellow Sicilian..Michael J

I ordered an Italian Sub with a bags of chips to be delivered to work. It cost $23.50 because of the $5.18 DELIVERY FEE. So, total cost was $27.00 the tip for the driver isn't in the delivery fee. It took them over an hour to deliver my lunch which was 2 miles away. They forgot my chips so I called because the driver left already. The man I spoke to on the phone told me to "CALL BACK, BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO BUSY." I hung up the phone. This place is not worth the money or the trouble.

Amazing food. Amazing service. Extraordinary kindness by the owner when we came in with our 5 kids on vacation in August. I'm so thankful we went out of our way to try this wonderful place. Probably the best sandwich I've ever had.

This place is a hidden gem, the quality of the food is here top notch. Got a fresh chicken cutlet sub w/provolone, lettuce, tomato & mayo and all I can say is wow! Fresh, thin pounded, well seasoned chicken cutlets, so very good! Their pizza is also very very good, we actually tried a few slices that just had sauce and sprinkled Parmesan cheese, and I couldn't get over how good something this simple was. Definitely give this place a try.

Stopped in at 3 pm for a slice. Pizza dough was crusty like a cracker. Room temp. I'm guessing they don't bother in mid afternoon.

Food was very good. Chicken soup and sicilian pizza are excellent. Sicilian sub was great but could have used more meat, especially for what it costs. Would have preferred that both of us were served at the same time.

Stopped by today with my father and brother to grab a quick pizza for home And was greeted by Mama Bullia, she treated us like family and gave us each a bowl of her delicious soup . She truly makes this place special with her comfort. Will definitely stop by again because the food is great and the owners treat you like
