What a disaster this place is. Not only is the food of mediocre quality but there is nothing attractive about this place... neither the service, which is ordinary, nor the food which is far from real family gastronomy and imbued with authenticity as I had read it. I have read such enthusiastic reviews that I wonder if it is not the effect of the novelty. No really $40 for a main course, a starter and a soup... The thin broth at best and an assembly jambalaya. No I don't recommend.

Ordered through UberEats, the order arrived incorrect. The chicken in the gumbo didn’t taste fresh and there wasn’t much sausage, much more chicken. The beans and rice lacked seasoning and was packaged bizarre so it was hard to eat without a mess. As someone who has had authentic NOLA food, this is close but definitely not what you get down south. Really wish my order had been correct. Hopefully next time is better.

Wife and I were very excited for this location to open nearby. We are avid NOLA visitors and foodies. Nice new location with large menu and great food. About a dozen tables to dine in along with extensive beer and wine do enjoy on premise. Highly recommend.

I came in here for the first time at 6pm on a rainy Saturday with my son. It's kind of hidden away and I keep forgetting about it when thinking of dinner options. It's a small place with about a dozen tables and some counter seating, and there was only one table occupied. There was some music playing (sounded like 80s and 90s covers) and a painted mural on one wall but nothing really giving off a Nola vibe (whatever that might be, having never been there) You order either on a touchscreen gizmo on the wall or go up to the register. We did the latter and then self-seated at a table. As the food is ready it's brought to your table we were told. I ordered a cup of chicken & sausage gumbo, the jambalaya, and some gator bites. My son ordered a chicken finger basket - honey hot - with Cajun fries and cole slaw. The gumbo came first in a paper bowl with a plastic spoon. It was very good with chicken chunks, quartered kielbasa (didn't know that was in Cajun food), the trinity veggies, and okra. I would've liked some filé powder to add to it but it was still good and my favorite item. The gator bites came next in a paper lined plastic basket. They were fried with a crunchy cornmeal coating and a small container of Cajun remoulade. The texture and flavor reminded me of calamari, and the remoulade was needed to add some flavor. The "entrees" came out at the same time. The chicken tenders were served in a paper-lined steel basket shaped like a boat, with the Cajun fries and cole slaw. The fingers were piping hot and the honey hot sauce they were covered in was very tasty with just the right amount of heat according to my son. The fries were hot (temp) and the Cajun seasoning was very good. The cole slaw was the basic mayo based version. It was a large serving so my son ended up taking some of it home. The jambalaya came in a bigger, sturdier paper bowl. It had all the required ingredients for jambalaya but it wasn't spicy. But that could just be me; I love spicy food so my threshold for what's considered spicy is above normal levels. Maybe they could have some cayenne, other seasonings, or hot sauces available for those that want to kick it up a notch or three. It was very good though and was a big serving that was very filling. While no one else came in and sat for meals, there were a lot of people coming in and out for takeout and food deliveries. Overall I think what we had was very good. I will definitely try them again, maybe for some po' boys next time.

With Hook & Reel closing I was happy to have another dine-in Cajun restaurant. Nice fast casual restaurant and I liked the decorations. I know it's not really Cajun, but their garlic noodles are amazing. I like spicy food and got it “hot” and was very happy with how spicy it was.Crawfish po boy was huge with good bread and cornmeal breading. It tasted a little different from what I remember when I had a po boy in Louisiana a long time ago, but I still liked it. I upgraded to “Cajun '' but was not sure what the difference was. I would expect all of them to be Cajun by default. The fried okra I also enjoyed. I saw a family get a boil and it looked really good. This area was recently renovated and called the Marketplace. Tons of new parking and looks very nice.Parking: Recently renovating parking with ample spots

Hubby is from Fromm New Orleans so when he came to visit we went to Nola Cajun and it felt like home for him! Picked up dinner for the first time from NOLA Cajun Kitchen tonight in Shrewsbury at their newest location. I was greeted by owner Robert. Was super excited to hear about this place open!! Catfish poboy, gator bites and fried pickles are my favorite ? Both were amazing and the remoulade dipping sauce was incredible. Has a huge selection of food and drinks

I was beyond excited when I learned that Nola would be opening a second location. The food is just as good as their West Boylston location, but about 1/3 the drive for us. We will be returning pretty often!

Hidden gem in Shrewsbury. Menu has everything you would want to get your cajun food fill. Gumbo hit the spot. So did my Abita Amber!

Picked up dinner for the first time from NOLA Cajun Kitchen tonight in Shrewsbury at their newest location. I was greeted by owner Robert, who pointed out their New Orleans Abita Brewing Company IPA's, so of course I had one, and it was super smooth! I ordered Natchitoches Meat Pie, Fried Green Tomatoes, Corn on the Cob in Nola's Special Sauce, and the Mild Garlic Noodles with Kielbasa & Broccoli. Everything was super tasty, and customer service was impeccable. I have to get back there to try the Gator Bites & a Seafood Boil.

Great flavors, good spread and friendly staff. There aren't many Cajun options in the area and Nola is one of the few options. The prices are very reasonable too. Definitely a must try.Dietary restrictions: Option to choose allergies

Disclosure: My wife and I ate there for the first time just yesterday, so a one time experience. We are both established fans of Cajun food, so we made lunch there a mandatory stop on Rt 9.The place is totally neutral for "atmosphere", but the food was incredible. The NOLA gumbo was tasty and fresh and perfect for my taste with a couple of dashes of Crystal pepper sauce.I had the catfish po-boy and my wife the oyster one. The cornmeal breading was crunchy but light and the catfish and oysters were perfectly done, moist and tender. The oysters were creamy melt-in-your-mouth!We WILL be back!

Wonderful to have a sit down New Orleans style restaurant in the area. The food style used to be a treat only when we traveled, now it's here. Same restaurant as the take out counter in West Boylston. Great to see they've done so well to have 2 locations now.Dietary restrictions: Wonderful choices of items that could exclude various allergensParking: Plenty of space in the lot, curbside pickup parking as well as EV chargers a bit away in the same lot.Kid-friendliness: A couple of items designed for kids as well as booster seats for them.
