Prices are so expensive according to the food. Don’t come to this place, a bunch of Mexican places better than this one. If you want to waste your time and money is the right place.

The food was amazing. We couldn’t stop ordering more plates. The scallop appetizer was so refreshing and delicious! They also have a shrimp weekend special that was just packed full of flavor. My husband had the Birria taco dish and I had to fight him to a bite. The mezcal drinks were also done very well, we loved it. Before we left, the owner gave us two shots on the house because she knew we were from out of town. This was such a great dining experience, highly recommend!!

Small plates Mexican restaurant with good service and a nice evening atmosphere. Food was quite good with fun flavor mixes. The drinks were excellent and I’d definitely return just to grab a drink sometime.

Went for Valentine’s Day dinner - overall, a really great meal!My first impression was that there was so much more seating than you’d think just walking in from the street. Cute decor, friendly servers. When we went there was a DJ spinning vinyl, and I really liked his music selections. I’m not sure if this was just for Valentine’s Day but it was a great touch. For two people, we ordered:A tequila margarita with grasshopper rimA mezcal margarita with grasshopper rimChicken EnmoladasCochinita PibilChips and GuacamoleThe great:- The drinks! I thought the cocktails were excellent, and the grasshopper rim is unusual for greater Boston but a delicious and memorable touch- The ambiance. Great music! Great decor!- The service was professional and quick, and they use those QR code receipts that let you pay on your phone. The good:- The food. The presentation is beautiful and the food was very good. However, as many have said, the portions are surprisingly small for the price on everything we ordered and saw. Additionally, while I thought what we ordered was delicious, I’ve had the same dishes at other local restaurants that were as good or better but cheaper and with larger portions.Overall, I’d definitely recommend BARRA, but in my opinion it’s better suited for drinks and maybe a light snack than a meal, given the portions and price point.

Came here for an early dinner on a Thursday for their happy hour deal and the place was quite literally empty. This wasn't a negative for us though at all - it meant quick service and the music was enough to liven the atmosphere decently so it didn't seem too quiet. We got a table inside and the space was on the smaller side, but felt plenty homey. The menu had a good mix of foods and I settled on getting two tacos along with some chips and guac. The price during happy hour is honestly a steal - I would definitely come back given how good of a deal it was. The food came out quickly and was really tasty and flavorful. Portions also were great. If you're ever in the Union Square area looking for some decent Mexican food, look no further! Thanks, Barra!

Dinner was hoppin'!Grasshoppers are the distinctive ingredient in a few of their dishes including the Cantina Peanuts and the Tetela we enjoyed and even a garnish on my fiancé's mezcal margarita! Crunchy, salty and an experience you can’t knock until you try it (when in Rome, right?).Barra is also known for serving their tacos on hand-pressed blue corn tortillas so before I placed my taco order, I had to get the @cervezalabru “Blue Corn” Amber Ale brewed in Mexico with Mexican blue corn, this created a really unique flavor that went so well with our Tacos de Chile Relleno which is one of their first dishes that has returned to the menu- stuffed jalapeño w/ground beef, nuts & dried fruit, served on refried beans and pickled vegetables. This is a must visit in Union Square, go in with an open yet adventurous mindset!

Possibly the best Mexican restaurant in Boston. The margaritas were perfectly crafted and the food authentic and delicious. Highly recommend the Cochinita Pibil.

Fine enough bar with bad service and barely adequate food. Extremely expensive for what you get. The vibe was nice, so I really wish anything else about the experience was good, but I think you'll be better served by skipping this one.

Love these lovely finds ! We are guided to theses gems by llistenijg to some good food writers and talking with people about there experiencesBarra has consistently come up as one of the best authentic mexican spots in our area. We loved this place when it was one of the smallest yet best cocktail bars in the city. Good drinks can be had just about anywhere these days . This place mixed superb cocktails. They still do :). Pair that with simply excellent Mexican creations and we have another winner in somerville. This cozy spot is not . your average Mexican place.. there are no hot sauves on all the tables . The food is so good that you should taste it as it was meant from the kitchenSave us a spot Barra team . We will be back

Best margarita in and around Boston! A wide selection of tequila and mezcal. The fresh tortillas are such a treat. This place transports you to Mexico City!
