I am not giving one star because I don't like the food. I ordered food from them last night , was quoted one price, then charged another. I was told that my total was 27 dollars and some change. My wife looked at our bank statement, and we were charged 31.64. Been going there for years, was never dissatisfied with their service up until now, again, not because of the food, but because of what the manager told me. Sales tax of 7%, extra rolls apparently cost more, but I got hit with a 3% surcharge for using my card. Looked it up, says that is illegal in the state of Massachusetts, he says no, says he has been doing it since 2020 and knows of several businesses that do the same thing. Maybe I'm mistaken. No, half an hour and 20 sources later, they all repeat the same message: credit card surcharges are illegal in the states of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the territory of Puerto Rico. If he is being dishonest like this for a few dollars, then what else are they being dishonest about? They just lost a customer.

Overall this was okay. The charcoal grilled chicken is certainly a huge highlight. This is on the more expensive side for sure. We spent 70+ dollars for two mains and a salad. The fish, though well flavored (lots of garlic!), was very oily and sadly overcooked and hard.

Hole in the Wall Restaurant that offers heartwarming Portuguese fare. With its modest facade, one may walk past without giving it a second glance, but step inside, and you'll be embraced by a warm, local atmosphere replete with the comforting aroma of home-cooked meals. Before even perusing the menu, the complimentary Graco de Bico salad, served with the bread basket, set the tone for the meal. A simple ensemble of garbanzo beans, bell peppers, and onions seasoned with olive oil and vinegar, it whetted the appetite, highlighting the beauty of humble ingredients. The appetizers, Bolinho de Bacalhau (Cod cake) and Rissois de Camarao (Shrimp cake), each encased in a golden, crispy shell, were a study in contrasts. While both were delicious in their own right, the cod cake stood out with its robust flavors and firmer texture, overshadowing the slightly watery shrimp cake. When it came to the entrées, "generosity" was the watchword. Substantial portions ensured not just satiety, but also a delightful indulgence in simple, rustic flavors. The Grilled Chicken, drenched in a zesty garlic sauce, was tender and the sauce added a nice tang. The Bacalhau a Casa, with its elastic texture, was also good. However, a small hiccup was the presence of bones, which made savoring the dish a tad challenging.J J Restaurant brings to the table a unique rendition of Portuguese cuisine, deviating slightly from the more popular variants found in Portuguese spots across Cambridge. But it's this very deviation that's its charm. The unpretentious ambiance, combined with hearty meals and affable service, makes it an occasional must-visit, especially for those seeking a genuine taste of Portugal without the frills.

Absolutely worth every penny. Only $30 for an enormous rice dish with a whole lobster and tons of other seafood. Charming atmosphere in the back of a corner store, friendly and kind staff. Even the bread rolls are amazing. Highly recommend!!

What an unexpected gem. We were unsure when we pulled up. It looks like a convenience store from the outside. Hidden behind a little wall, we found some delicious food with large portions! We tried new foods and are so happy we did. There is no parking lot and parking on the street is sparse, but if you can find a way inside, the food was great. They recommended the chicken and it did not disappoint. The fish and chips, which were okay. The salmon was good. A favorite at the table was a complimentary garbanzo bean dish. I would go back for that alone. Those three meals fed four hungry people with leftovers. It is nothing fancy, but it was filling and delicious.

Have been coming for YEARS and every year they get skimpier and skimpier with their portions of chicken. Very disappointing! You use to get a decent amount of sauce and now you just get oil. Stop cutting corners your loosing business and long time customers. There is no way with how much business you get you need to cut corners like this, pure stinginess!
