We took a chance and was very happy with our choice. Customer service was great, nothing like being served with a smile. The Ambiance fits the theme of the restaurant Southern style with a touch of class. Infused flight of whisky was everything. Definitely will return, next time I am in Boston.

My family and I ate here last night. The last time I was here was at least 4 years ago. Our usual go-to for BBQ when we're in the area is The Smoke Shop (also in Assembly Row). We almost left after ordering drinks when we realized the menu doesn't offer kids meals. My mistake for not checking the menu beforehand. But we decided to stay. We started with the biscuits, which were one of the best I've ever had. I shared the southern fried chicken plate with 2 kids. I ordered 2 extra pieces of chicken, so 6 total. The plate definitely had enough on it's own. The chicken was really good but has a hint of sweetness, almost like a hint of cinnamon. Just something to keep in mind. The mac and cheese was decent. The fries were great. My husband got a full rack. The flavor was there and they were tender. But parts of it was cold. We asked a waiter (not ours but who was refilling my water) if he could bring it back to heat up. They ended up having to bring out a new one because someone dropped it on the floor. Not a problem but we had to take it home because we were done eating by the time it was brought out. Lastly, the cornbread - probably the worst I've ever had. Only because it's not your typical cornbread. It's more like a bread pudding. I don't know if that is customary down south, but definitely not what I was expecting. I've read a lot of reviews about the service, and I have to agree that it was just OK. It wasn't necessarily a bad experience but I think I'll stick to The Smoke Shop.

We came for brunch. Food was pretty good. Service was awful. Waitress seemed like she was in a coma. Didn’t put in our app, didn’t have a pen to take our order, so I told her we would wait while she got a pen because we knew the order would not be correct if she didn’t get one. And one of my pet peeves - when the waitress leaves dirty dishes on the table the entire time we were there. We ended up having to get up, go to the bar, ask and pay for our check since she was no where to be found.

We were on Saturday March 9th, the first party, and the waitress white big lady with dark hair, was like, I’m here to do lemon juice so don’t bother me, I had to stand up and request sugar for my coffee from another waiter, terrible service, food is good but we are not coming back to be mistranslated like that

Assembly row is always a great place for some you time. Parking in the garage for 3 hours $3. Walked in to southern straight to the bar, started off with a botanical sangria,I swear it tasted like spring. Had the green fried tomatoes top with crab, a mixture of crunch and a tiny bit of heat. Second drink was the farmer's daughter no jalapeño for me, absolutely delicious. The taste was unexplainable in my opinion but refreshing definitely having this again. Frogmore stew was my main course, I asked the bartender a couple of questions which she was more than happy to seek her manager advice and was right on with her answer. The stew was heavy flavor but not overly powering the potatoes and shrimp in it. Looking forward to trying their gumbo as both my neighbors order it and kept raving over it. Dim lighting made it a great solo experience.

I was super excited to try this place. The cook was super kind and remade my blackeye peas but it was still not fully cooked ? My waiter was subpar and the other waiter and the cook took better care of me than he did.

Stopped by after getting a referral from a worker on the Green Line.I'm from the South, so to get an experience of our food up North was cool. The food wasn't seasoned as we do, but it was okay!I would recommend because the customer service and atmosphere is very nice.

Pains me to have to write a new review and such a low rating. I've been here multiple times and I've always enjoyed myself with delicious food and great service but today was a far different experience. Came in about 3:30 this Saturday afternoon and as soon as I walked in I should have known to try somewhere else today. Host was almost displeased to see me walk in. Had to wave down my waitress three separate times for basic needs such as silverware, a refill on my drink and check. Cornbread which is usually my favorite part of my visits here was burnt, rice in my gumbo was hard and gumbo waswayyyy salty. I get it that we all have bad days but every part of my experience today was a bummer. I was hoping someone was going to ask me how my food was or how my visit was but that never happened. Won't be returning for a while. I hate being that person that returns food, I never do it and you would think that they would notice the burnt cornbread but they still pushed it out. Sad.

Southern food in New England, sign me up! Definitely a great choice for a taste of the south. The fried chicken was amazing, crispy and perfectly seasoned. The collard greens were pretty good, I wished they used smoked turkey but nonetheless still pretty good. I loved the Mac n cheese, velveeta was a great addition. The grits were more like polenta, not our favorite and that’s what my bf was most excited about. I hated the chai espresso martini lol not my thing I guess but three of us ordered it and wasn’t feeling it. I would definitely recommend though, order the fried chicken plate or chicken and waffles and you won’t go wrong.
