A great choice of two different rooms. It can be complex but it is involved. Pay attention to clues.

Both times I've done a room here the puzzles malfunctioned causing us to get stuck on puzzles which wasted time and lowered morale. Incredibly hard to see in the rooms as well, the struggles were not the puzzles rather the poor production of the rooms. 0/5

Great time with both rooms. Creative, challenging and interesting, but still solvable.

Wow! So much fun! The rooms were complicated and fun and the owner is so awesome! Definitely coming back to do the other rooms! 5 stars!!

As an escape room enthusiast who has done over 440 rooms, I always enjoy seeing well-executed technology in escape rooms, and these two rooms do not disappoint. The first room we played, Vampire Hunter, was an elegant room with several surprising moments, with the only critique being a slight over-reliance on one particular prop. Otherwise, the room was very solid and enjoyable. The second room we played, The Archaeologist, was a tech-driven room filled with all sorts of surprises, with a great mixture of physical and mental challenges. The real standout of the experience, however, was the extremely pleasant staff who was clearly very invested in his business (and it shows).

The owner/engineer James is a great guy. I work around the area everyday and see how good he treats people. The escape room is awesome, exciting and unreal the thought process James has put into it. My family and myself have done the escape room and we enjoyed it so much! We had so much fun having few drinks and trying to figure out how to get out of the rooms. It’s definitely a great time and a must go for anyone visiting or looking to have a great time. Thank you James , we will see you soon again!

I really enjoyed experiencing this escape room, I've been to 3 different places and this has to be the best one. The service was excellent and the sheer creativity of the rooms was astounding. I recommend checking it out, and going with at least 4 people to maximize your fun.

This place is amazing! I have completed one room, and the other, so far, has defeated me. These are not novice rooms. Lots of craftsmanship has clearly gone into these...oh and it's a bar too! The gentleman who runs the place is very nice. I cannot wait for him to finish the Star Wars themed escape. I'll definitely be back!

Absolutely top notch escape room experience! I have done many escape rooms and this one was immersive and fun with multiple rooms and challenging puzzles. Highly recommended!

The owner James Kobath is a rip off artist famous in the area for the bait and switch, price inflation and not paying bills. He uses sub-par items to create dishes which shows in the gross product that makes it to the table. Avoid at all costs!!

This is a top notch escape room! I just visited with a few friends and had a blast! As someone who has done 10+ rooms this ranks among the best! I will most definitely be returning! The staff was great and the puzzles and clues were well done and seamless!

Having done many escape rooms in Los Angeles and San Fransisco, I was very impressed with the production quality of Springfield Great Escape. Definitely one of the best in the area. Staff was very friendly, and there's a bar available for those who need a little, uh... "liquid inspiration". An easy recommendation for anyone remotely interested in escape rooms.

ESCAPETHEROOMers visited Springfield's Great Escape back in oct 2018. This is the only escape room in the Springfield, MA area. Being that its steps away from the MGM hotel & casino, it's a great way to "escape" from the casino for some real fun. The lobby feels more like a bar setting and the owner did express his intention to acquire a liquor license so can add alcohol to his food and beverage menu that he currently offers. The owner is amazing with his carpentry and electrical engineering skills. He builds all the rooms by himself. The first room we tried is "The Archaeologist" room. There's definitely a few innovative ideas and props that he installed in there that we've never seen before. There was a few hiccups while we were playing with the tech puzzles but he was able to correct it immediately (we could've given a higher rating if these issues didn't occur). We felt that one of the puzzles was quite physically challenging with two people, but he said he's going to fix that so it can be a bit easier for the future players. There's no red herrings in the gameplay and the theme of the room felt quite immersive. The next room we tried is "The Vampire Hunter" room. Do note the "blue" circle on the side of the main door, those are emergency exit buttons and NOT the doorbell. Do not press those or else the entire escape room resets and everything opens up. We loved this room from the beginning to the end. The owner did an amazing job building all the props to provide a super-immersive experience. He spared no expense at getting some incredible pieces in there. It's a must-see and definitely ask him to tell you the stories of how acquired them. We saw a lot of high-tech puzzles that we could've have seen at some of NYC's prestigious chain escape rooms. There were no red herrings in the room and the story was very direct and to the point. We highly recommend trying this room if you are ever in the area. *For more info, check out my Yelp profile.

*Disclaimer: this review is only for the bar & friendly staff!! On a very brief trip to Springfield, my sister and I wanted to squeeze in an escape room. We stopped into the Great Escape the night before to reserve and grab a drink. The bar was small but a great selection of local and other beers. The vibe is very chill and a nice place to just relax and prepare for a challenging escape room! I'd love to come back to watch a sports game on their TV and enjoy some beers. The gentlemen that helped us were so awesome! So friendly and full of suggestions for things to do. We had a really nice chat while enjoying our drinks. We intended to come back the next day for the escape room but had to cancel because we were too hungover after a costume party at Springfield MGM. James was understanding and nice about us canceling last minute (pretty sure we made him come in early to prepare). When I come back, definitely will return because of the hospitality and award winning escape room!
