Nice local dive bar. Bar food. Nothing gourmet here which is nice when all you want is a burger or pizza. Unpretentious place. Can get a little rowdy I usually get takeout which has been good so far. The pizza is good. Kids love the Mac and cheese
We had a ladies lunch. Sat at the bar. Lobster fritters and salads. It was expensive but Newport always is. The Mooring is a comfortable restaurant and never disappoints on the food. I have been here a few times over the past 20 years. I'm just now appreciating it for the great mainstay that it is. Looking forward to going again soon. Four stars because of prices. A salad with grilled chicken was $22. However, I was willing to pay for the great service and location.

You wouldn't think that The Mooring is a place for a memorable salad. It's a neighborhood bar, with friendly service, great pizza and bar food. Everything a person would want... But the "OMG" Oh My Goat Salad is amazing. Perfect proportions of greens, goat cheese, glazed walnuts and cranberries. It's a perfect side dish to accompany any of the other offerings at the Mooring.
