Hands down the absolute best General Gau's chicken!

They either jacked up the prices for new years eve or they shrunk their portion sizes, either way we got ripped off.Egg Roll(s) $4.95 - We got ONE egg rollPeking Ravioli $8.25 - we got 4Crab Rangoon $7.95 - we got 4Pork Fried Rice $8.95 - we received house friedTwo Flavored Chicken $15.95So for $50, we got barely enough food to feed 2 people. This is basically 2 lunch meals. See picture for yourself. Will NEVER order from here again. Total scam

Looks like I'm going to go somewhat against the grain and state that this was BETTER than expected and advertised. I don't know why we never gave them a shot but Uber Eats reeled us in with a really nice special, here are the hits. Get the beef teriyaki on a stick! We have looked everywhere for something ever since moving to Woburn over a half decade ago and very little compared to what we could get closer to Boston. But wow, this was about as tender as it can get for what are usually lesser pieces of cow. This will be added to every single order in the future. My wife ordered that, otherwise I would have not doubled up on the beefiness. I got the Hunan Spicy Beef and expected it to be "white people spicy" but it really was packing a punch and I was happy about that. Once again, unbelievably tender with a yummy, gooey sauce that went along with the mixed veggies within. Easily a big enough portion for two meals. She was very pleased with her General Gau's chicken also. Sometimes it can be way overcooked and tough, this was not and the sauce was also not overpowering. It could have used a few more pieces of broccoli is my only criticism. The location itself is very unassuming, easy to miss outside of a busy intersection in downtown Woburn. There are no tables so it's strictly takeout. It felt really good to mix it up and give new places a try with the Woburn Asian scene feeling a bit stale for us. They aren't going to be winning awards for the best Chinese food on the north shore but we were very pleased with everything that was ordered and are excited to get a plethora of takeout once again from Ginger Root. Pro tip, order ANYTHING beef related.

We have only been here for too good too go and my son loved it. We get a brown bag with usually soup, fried rice, and last time we got noodles he was very excited and wants to go back when we're in the area. He said the woman that works there has always been nice and friendly.

Awful experience. Half the order was shorted and wrong, no apologies attempted for $100+ punch in the wallet.

I've been a customer for 10 years now. Ginger Root has some of the best Chinese food I've ever eaten. The food is always hot. The portions are very good. Couple of my favorites are pork fried rice. Beef is spicy szechuan sauce. In which I recommend. The best thing is that they always take care of their customers. I highly recommend trying Ginger Root.

I really love it here. The staff is very nice and friendly and I placed an order towards the end of the day and they even gave me a delicious desert for free! 10/10 would recommend

I ordered four dishes for delivery, including one main dish that would normally be served with rice, but no plain white rice was included with the order as expected, just the fried pineapple brown rice with honeyed walnuts that I ordered, which was too sweet to use as a base for the savory main dish. The $10 small chow mein (which was to have been my entree) came with NO chow mein noodles—it was just 40 calories’ worth of bean sprouts and sliced onions in a one-pint container. The veggie mu shu was tasty, but came with only three pancakes, not enough for four people as is usual. With no noodles, no plain rice, and a missing pancake, the meal was disappointing and there was not enough food. Won’t be ordering again.
awesome food and great service every time. You can tell by the way the food is prepared that they simply care about their customers

Jeez. So i'm never one to write a review but I figured I had to on this one. I'm under the impression that Ginger Root is under new ownership and sadly, I won't return. I always ordered the General Tso's Chicken and it was always awesome and fresh. Very satisfying. However, i've tried the General Tso's over the last few months 3 times and wow, it's horrible. The same three times I got the same result. I'm not even sure it's chicken. It's very chewy like gum. Doesn't dissolve like it normally would. Actually doesn't even really dissolve. I get this big ball of whatever they bread it with and whatever meat they are using when I'm done and it's absolutely disgusting. Unfortunately I won't be back.

Bland food. Mooshi is so liquidy and plain. Sweet and sour chicken had too much breading. Chowmein is nothing to write home about.

The food was awful and extremely sweet I couldn’t eat it.. I order mushi and the dish was unbeatable the shumai came with no sauce they told me to the plum sauce instead which was watered down and extra sweet.. they weren’t will to make it up they just hung up on me.. I’m disputing the bill through my bank..
