We love it here. The food is so authentic and spicy. It takes your tastebuds to a whole new place. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. It’s truly a gem here, and the authentic nature here makes you appreciate their culture. Also, the Mai Tai is wonderful and the price is reasonable for the quality of food you are getting. The restaurant is huge, and we only had to wait once on Chinese New Year. We get the Spicy Jumbo Shrimp, Sweet and Sour Picked Radish and the Smoked Pork with green pepper. You must give this place a try if you keep an open mind, and truly want authentic cuisine. It’s simply the best! Thank you.

The restaurant no longer serves sushi, but we are looking forward to returning when we are craving the other Hunan items on the menu that looked great! Staff was very friendly.

It is one of the best Chinese food restaurants you can choose if you like spicy food. The food is tasty, and the service is fine. The price is great for the food and you have a lot of choices for real traditional Chinese food. The space of this place is big and there are usually not wait lines if you arrive around 6 pm. Very good place to visit and recommend to friends

The boiled live fish tastes exactly like the one eaten in Changsha, with perilla leaves floating on top. Fish soup with rice is really a masterpiece. You have to be patient to eat this dish, it needs to be cooked slowly.

The food is very delicious and I recommend this restaurant to people who love spicy food. If you order spicy cold jelly noodles I recommend you make sure you have a plate full of rice and glass full of water because this dish is probably the most spicy food in the United States. The service is good but it takes 20-30 min for the food to arrive. The atmosphere is amazing, with extremely beautiful light fixtures with color changing LED lights. WARNING ⚠️ the front door gets jammed sometimes and you have to bang on the door for a waitress to come and open the door.Parking: The parking is behind the Dunkin DonutsKid-friendliness: There is a fish tank and TV's near the front

Ever since moving from Jersey been looking for an authentic Hunan place and this one is probably the best I've had yet. Their homemade bean curd is phenomenal compared to the store bought one. - Stir fry smoked pork with bean curd: Must have, the bean curd with the pork is amazing.- Pork intestines with green pepper: Well done pork intestines is hard to find and when stir fry with spicy peppers is to die for.- Braised pork belly: sucker for big chunks of pork belly and taste was spot on.

I went to this restaurant for couple times. One month ago, when I invited my friend to have a dine here, the waitress interrupted us and asked us to pay the bill before we finished. I was surprised, apparently not happy about it, cause I was feeling urged to end. But eventually, I paid the bill and add a tip for around 15%. However, the most embarrassing thing happened, the waitress came and questioned me why only 15% (before tax) was given. OMG! It’s very embarrassing for me and my friends. And apparently the waitresses do not want keep old customers. The only thing they want is higher tips, instead of improving their service. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS RESTAURANT if you want have a happy lunch or dinner without worrying about this embarrassing situation.

DO NOT GO if you paid lower than 15% tip, otherwise you will be blamed by the waitress....

Authentic Hunan dishes, clean food, warm service! My husband and I have been frequent loyal customers of this owner’s restaurants for more than seven years.Authentic— I lived in Hunan for five years in my college time, so really appreciate the authentic Hunan dishes from this restaurant and the owner’s former restaurant (Sei Bar of Wakefield).Clean food— I have very sensitive digestive and nerve systems. Any food with artificial additives (coloring or flavor enhancers) or preservatives give me severe headaches. This is why i avoid most Chinese restaurants in greater Boston ( or anywhere in US for that matter) because their food gave me headaches each time, but not Spicy Hunan (and Sei Bar). Spicy Hunan has been our safe “ go out to eat “ place for all these years. Before the Owner opened the Spicy Hunan, we used to drive 30 minutes to her Sei Bar. Since the opening of Spicy Hunan, we now drive 45 minutes to Spicy Hunan.Warm friendly service— I always felt welcomed and the waitresses are friendly. Regarding tipping (considering the recent reviews by a customer about tips), living in the US for more than 30 years, I learned a long time ago that standard tip amount in restaurants is 15% on pretax bill. Tips are for the service ( not the food, although some people mix these two). Above 15% is for exceptional service. Now after the pandemic, it seems everywhere prompts for 18% or more tips including my neighborhood seafood shack. A nearby bakery even automatically add 14% so called Administrative Fee to any purchase bill for the back kitchen stuff in addition to the expected tips for the front service staff. Even though Spicy Hunan’s bill prints pre-calculated amount for 18% or higher, when I pay, I usually calculate 15% in my head for the custom amount. My calculations may be more or less (when my husband pays, he may be more accurate). In any case, the service staff has always been polite and respectful even at their busiest times. The pandemic and high inflation may have raised prices and service staff expectations across the board. If any place deserves such raises, it is Spicy Hunan. The food is delicious! Our favorites: stir fried pork with green pepper (must order every time!), cumin lamb, stir fried cauliflower, smoked pork with green pepper. Yum!

Today at noon, me and my friends dined at a restaurant and were met with an unpleasant service experience. When we paid the bill with a 14.4% tip(16/111), the waitress expressed strong dissatisfaction, even referencing a past visit where I and a friend had ordered five dishes. Our previous lower tip was due to my friend doesn't like one of that dish. My point was that ordering five dishes for two people already contributed significantly to the restaurant's profit. The waitress complained that the waitress who served us last time was scolded(even laid off) by the boss for the small tip we left. She warned that if we continued tipping this low, no waitress want to serve us in the future. In response to this threat, I said that we might just stop coming, to which she bluntly said we should not come again. It was quite a shocking and disheartening experience, reflecting poorly on the restaurant's approach to customer service.

Very good 湖南 [Hunan] style food. Pork liver, jelly noodles, cumin lamb, ceramic pot chicken all excellent. Especially liked the pig's ear with pickled pepper (no apologies necessary to Peter Piper). FOH staff were great, helpful suggestions.
