BirchTree USED to be THE spot in Worcester. Unfortunately, when the original owners sold the restaurant three years ago, the high quality, experimentation of ingredients, and attention to detail has unfortunately been burnt to a crisp. The restaurant has recently felt like a mediocre chain of restaurants, because surprise, surprise, it actually is! If you are familiar with Crust, I hate to break it to you, but Crust owns BirchTree. Ugh.They still have the COVID-19 conscious procedure of ordering from your phone at the table, which makes the experience feel much less personal than it used to be. Low key, I miss the long lines to order before COVID, there was something exciting and unique about this place, and now it’s riding along the coat-tails of what it once was. It used to continually innovate, but now it is pretty much the same old same old. It’s still a “fine” place to eat, if you are in a pinch, but the food, especially the toast, has changed in quality and the amount of food given is much less than before. I used to recommend this place to friends, but I rarely do anymore. The old staff is essentially all gone, because they probably couldn’t handle how the place is now being run.5 stars before COVID, 1 star now, rounding down to 2 stars, because I can’t subject myself to write a 1 star review because of my old nostalgia of this place.

The French Onion Grilled Cheese is a god-tier grilled cheese. The crispy simple salad is the perfect complement on the side. I come here for this and this alone -- many other items on the menu are delicious, but nothing beats this for me. BirchTree is a bit of a hipster spot, and as a result has hipster-spot-prices, but it's worth it for the quality of the food you get. Live music is always good.

Dissappointed with the triple berry toast. ?This is one of my favorite here, but lately it does not come with berries. They should advice when they run out of ingredients and let costumer decide if they really want it or not, because it doesn't live up to its name!

Cool breakfast vibes. Not from around here, but probably no secret this breakfast spot is a gem. The ham, egg, and cheese sandwich is a symphony. Savory ham, fluffy eggs, the eggs are fluffy, and the right richness of cheese. However, what truly elevated this meal were the home fries. The herb aioli, a creamy blend of garlic (?) and fresh herbs, added a burst of flavor that lingered with every bite. Accompanying it all are the potatoes, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. If you appreciate fresh, flavorful food, this breakfast spot is a must-visit.

Good service. Customers were waiting outside before they opened so that was a good sign. A bit in the pricey side but the quality was worth it.

The lavender London fog was delicious and so was the apple cider donut. The breakfast sandwich was just ok. I was hoping it would be delicious but it was just ok. I think it was microwaved so the cheese was over melted and the bun wasn't fresh.I had to go up and get two out of three items ordered bc they didn't bring it to the table.Lots of seating but the music was a bit loud to have normal conversations. It was close to being really good but just some misses.

The moment I walked in the ferocious smell of fresh baked bread was intoxicating! I got a wonderful recommendation for a maple iced coffee that was top notch! Got a cup (was at least the size of a bowl!) Of broccoli cheddar soup that came with a slice of fresh bread, and it was a little bit of heaven! The atmosphere was friendly and inviting and I cannot wait to go back

Very busy. Set up is confusing. As a first time guest, I walked in and wasn't sure what to do. There was a counter to order at but only beverages listed on the menu above and I had seen food online. Tables were dirty and all had numbers on them which made me think that people had ordered and been given numbers. We finally figured out that if you are dining in you sit at a table and scan a QR code to order and get menu. We had to bus and clean the previous patrons dirty dishes ( supposed to clean after yourself) I was looking forward to trying the pizza or sandwiches but there was a brunch menu instead of what is posted on line. My quiche Lorraine was a large portion but dried out and flavorless. My friend's spinach and feta quiche was dried out as well. The toast accompaniment was dry hard and tasteless. We didn't eat much. My daughter enjoyed her tomato soup except there was a lot of olive oil on the top. She liked the focaccia bread. Coffee was a bitter and didn't taste like the flavors we ordered at all. They request a tip when you order which we gave but we cleaned our own table and got our own silverware napkins etc. we didn't even order with a person.

Barista was a hot mess this am. Yelled a name that was not mine twice before I had to step in and tell her, no it’s not me and she proceeded to lecture me on what I should do next time when I order. Yo, I’m literally just standing here waiting g for my coffee. WTH. Must’ve been having a bad morning.

Love BirchTree, great food, the bread is indeed incredible, lots of seating and a good vibe. The staff are also always friendly and helpful. I buy their cardamom raisin bread by the loaf. My only feedback is that I wish the drinks and especially the coffee was served in proper glasses, cups and mugs. It would be more sustainable and I'd happily bus an extra glass or mug for the sake of saving some water. Plus it just feels nicer than drinking out of a paper cup. Thanks :-) Again, love everything else about BirchTree.
