I visited The Gaval recently and while the ambiance was appealing and the pictures promising, the overall experience was disappointing. The service was lackluster, the food lacked flavor, and the waitlist process seemed unfair as we were overlooked for a table in favor of someone who arrived after us. Overall, not worth the hype or the visit.

This was our first time at The Gavel. Definitely a place to hang out with friends or family.. We went on a Friday night and had a typical 40 minute or so wait. They do not have reservations. However the wait seemed to pass quickly as we had an attentive bar tender and enough space to hang out with live music. The food was very good, six people in our party and sense I can't figure out how to do 4-1/2 stars on the rating I'm putting it here. My only slightly issue was the batter on the fish and chips dinner was a little to crispy for my liking, but that's me, otherwise an excellent experience and we will be going back again.

I Love The Gavel. I’m there three times a week. I love the food and the drinks. I love the bartender, Paul, and the waitress Brittney. Never once had a bad meal or bad experience here.

This a very good pub (food was very good and menu has a very nice selection.) Overall, a good New England Pub - very prototypical. Food and Service was good. My recommendation for improvement are the two hostesses at the front door on a Saturday afternoon - You are the "face," of this establishment. When patrons walk-in: 1) Probably best to not be on your phone 2) if a patron asks to sit at a table, that is not yet cleared -- it is not the "end of the world," if a patron wants to sit there. Management / Owners: My limited understanding of the restaurant industry is: Turnover Yields more revenue. if the hostesses (yes: two) proactively clear tables, you will be able to get more patrons in and out leading to incremental revenue. Thank You.

First visit and it it not disappoint. Easy to find, great parking and very close to 495. Attractive interior, good bar and great range of beers and cocktails. Food was great and the prices reasonable. Will visit again for certain.

Cozy pub with a cool vibe suitable for families, friends, or date night... Dining and bar areas are glass partitioned, allowing for an effective noise barrier while still feeling part of the scene. Our Cajun shrimp bowl and bourbon scallop entrees arrived just as we were starting our appetizer, and neither entree was hot. The food was otherwise unremarkable. Cocktails and beer selection were decent. This is a very busy place, so plan accordingly. We arrived very early (4:30) and were promptly seated. There were well over a dozen people waiting when we left at 5:30.

Cozy pub vibe, mediocre food, friendly service but slow. Entrees arrived just as we were starting our appetizer, and the entrees were not hot. Busy place. Be prepared to wait.

The burger wasn’t great! Bun wasn’t toasted and the sauce was all absorbed into the bun therefore the burger overall was dry. Bacon was good. Meat was ok. Bun should have been toasted and buttered and then add the sauce. Fries were not great either. I like the atmosphere. I hope they take this suggestion to heart and make a better burger.
