Food was delicious and service was excellent! We were a big group (18 people, 2 kids) and they were able to accommodate us (make sure to make a reservation a day or two prior). Prep time was fast as well, we didn’t have to wait for too long. This is a really great restaurant in the south. Highly recommended!

Great food but bad service. Waited 15 minutes after placing an order to be told that they didn't have time for our order so we walked out. Weird.

Great food and a very clean restaurant. I've eaten there twice and have not been disappointed. Prices are reasonable and huge portions. Plus the staff is friendly and great service. This is now my go to for Chinese food.

Thought we'd give a new Chinese restaurant a try since our regular one is under renovations. Ordered food for New Years, and let's just say that this restaurant might become our new go-to. If you're looking for some really good Chinese food in South Winnipeg, then give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

So we go to this Chinese restaurant and first thing, it's clean. I mean, we were ready for the usual grungy vibe, but nope. Anyway, we're all about those soup dumplings and they're good—maybe not mind blowing, but good enough for a round two.We went all out and ordered a feast—deep-fried breaded shrimp, deluxe fried rice, shanghai noodles, butter chicken, mapo tofu, and deluxe egg foo yung. That egg foo yung was something else! Just the right gravy ratio, it didn't get all soggy on us.Honestly, we overdid it with the ordering and surprise, we had enough to take home for another meal. This place is our new go-to for when the Chinese food craving hits. No doubt, we're coming back for more.
Great customer care. They had the patience to explain what was on the menu and even gave recommendations. Next time, I will take the beef-curry dish

Hai Shang Restaurant is definitely one of our favourite and go-to spots now for Chinese food in Winnipeg. So glad a friend suggested and shared this gem. The food has been consistently delicious, less greasy than other Chinese restaurants and the food quality AND portions are so much better than many! We had a variety of dishes from egg foo yong, xiao long bao (soup dumplings - a bit dried but still flavourful), deluxe chow mien, buttered chicken (all meat NO BONES) shrimp dish, honey breaded veal, beef and broccoliand a few more. It was a delicious feast, there were 5 of us and it was about $30/per person, plus leftovers. The restaurant is clean and interior is beautifully decorated with a golden theme. Service is fast, friendly, and polite. We can’t wait to go back. Super worth it for the price!
I waited to order a second time before writing a review as I felt the first order may have been a fluke. We ordered $200+ worth of food, the first order and were blown away, the second order was $240+, and holy smokes, it was all absolutely delicious. The food was fresh and everything that was fried was from a fryer with new oil. It all tasted fantastic. I travel for work and have had Chinese food from hundreds of restaurants from NS to BC and I can easily say this is by far the best Chinese food I have ever eaten, literally. No joke. The egg rolls on Nova Scotia can't be beat. Same as donairs. Now you know.

EXCELLENT! We attended a party at the restaurant and had a good experience, so we decided to book it for my mom's 65th birthday. From booking to the final goodbyes, the staff were professional, straightforward, and altogether great to do business with. The food was fresh and delicious, and the entire place was clean. I highly recommend!

Went there for the first time. We tried soup dumplings and veg spring rolls to start. The soup dumplings were so good and the spring rolls were pretty average. For our entree, we had fried rice and chicken ( I forgot the exact name lol) it was good. The restaurant was very clean and washrooms were as well. Our server was very nice and professional.Would recommend going and trying the soup dumplings.
