Seated right away, excellent service. But they didn't have pickerel fish and chips so tried the halibut fish and chips. But the fish was quite dry. The coleslaw was soggy. My friend's pumpkin French toast was delicious!

Friendly staff, positive work environment. Fantastic food. Restaurants rarely meet the amount of dietary needs like the Oakwood does which makes this a friendly place to eat for people with severe allergies. Really great prices. Good spot for families too. Takes reservations but you don't have to have a reservation to eat here. Bathrooms are always spotless too. They also offer a fridge full of baked in house desserts and take home meals as well if you're just looking for a "home cooked" feel. Highly recommend the Oakwood. It's a must try in Winnipeg.Kid-friendliness: Restaurant is kid friendly, the servers are so friendly with little ones, they have boosters available too!

Cute little restaurant that had some yummy food. It was pretty busy when we went but got seated not too long after we arrived.Service was good and friendly. Food is very homemade vibes and we loved it. My favourite was probably the French toast! It’s a cute restaurant within the South Osborne community!
We tried the special turkey dinners, for 4 adults, at 4 restaurants. Oakwood was the only 5 Star for food quality, serving size, desserts and service. Fairmont Hotel was 0 Stars and the most expensive. 529 Wellington had good service and ambience, but the food was tasteless and undercooked; 1 Star. Earls was barely average at 3 Stars.

I tried to use a gift card for take out - I stood there like a dummy while the one server couldn’t figure out how to run the card - the machine apparently wouldn’t work even though the server was able to tell me the amount on the card- after 15 minutes server still couldn’t figure it out so I left - terrible customer service and if you’re going to sell gift cards darn well make sure the they can actually be used!! Terribly disappointed in the Oakwood*There was no solution offered and the poor server was at a loss for what to do. This is what I meant by poor customer service - this is from a business standpoint - yes technology fails and clearly it has in the past as the server acknowledged this has happened - the OWNER then needs to have an ACTIVE solution when this does happen so that the staff are not left hanging and so the customer can use a gift card.
