Three stars for the good food I had there THAT ONE TIME IT WAS OPEN. I am not joking. I live in the neighbourhood and have tried to go there about a dozen times, including three times when I was meeting someone for dinner. I do not understand. Literally a few minutes ago I tried to go for a meal and the place was dark and locked. So I caught a bus to head downtown and eat near the theatre where I'm seeing a play... As the bus drove by Yen's, the OPEN sign lit up. This is just after six pm, mind you, and the place is meant to be open at three. I am done attempting to go there. It's too bad -- the food that one time was pretty good....

Some of the most legit gumbo you'll ever have in your life. It's a quirky spot, in a good way. Clearly the owner is friends with the regulars, but this is more a pro than a con. It is welcoming, and a great place for a conversation. There's something wonderfully casual about the place. You won't be fussed over, but it's weirdly accommodating to both privacy and extroverted interaction.

Loved this place back when it was called cousins and still love it now. The food is delicious, cozy atmosphere and the prices are fantastic. Honestly one of my favourite places to grab a bite and a beer.

So good to have Yen's Kitchen + Bar open! It's been a long time coming, since Cousin's closed down at the beginning of COVID (same owner). This is a classic neighbourhood haunt. Nothing pretentious, just a place to hang out with friends, enjoying solid drinks and good food. Yen is fantastic. He's still developing the menu, but I'm looking forward to trying some homemade pasta. Good prices. The veggie burger is massive and only $6-7.The menu posted here is just temporary until Yen works out the new one.
