ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A longtime Annapolis restaurant has announced it's closing at the end of the month, June 2023.The Canton Restaurant, on Ridgely Avenue off of Rowe Boulevard, will shut its doors after about 60 years in business. The restaurant posted on its website:"Canton Restaurant would like to thank our customers and regret to inform you that the restaurant will close its doors permanently on June 30th 2023."The family-run business was Annapolis' first Chinese restaurant, according to its website.

Ah just heard they will be closing. An Annapolis fixture for over 60 years, so much is changing in this area ..and not for the better. I remember my first egg roll at this place in the 1970s. Farewell.

So we stopped by for the first time Sunday 5/21 around 1pm, restaurant was completely empty, lights were turned off, no air conditioning running. As far as I know that’s not normal around lunch time, then once we asked for a beer they said don’t have license. Once food arrived, they didn’t look right and rice was dry, chips around Peking duck was old that smelled Also the restaurant was not in a good shape, old, dirty dishes. We got $45 worth of food that didn’t touch and just paid and left.I don’t think a restaurant with 60+ years in service should be like the way it is but I hope I was wrong

We were in the area for an event. We ordered from Grub Hub and waited over an hour for the delivery. It never came. Canton never made the order. The woman who answered when I called was obviously bothered that I reached out to them about the order. She said that the order was gone so it must be on the way? I reached out to Grub Hub and there was nothing to pick up... they never made it.

So many things wrong with this place...Most importantly, they entered a 250% gratuity for a takeout order... I left the cashier a 15% tip for a takeout order not 250% generous. Make sure you double check your credit card transaction. I am glad I did! They gave me the wrong item. I ordered chicken but they gave me shrimp. They packed my big order in one bag so the containers could not support the weight and sauces spilled everywhere.Their menu is out of date. The menu offered a large variety of entrees but when you order them, they say it's not available. The existing items were missing ingredients that used to be in the dishes. They are cutting corners. Finally the nosy lady at the front asked me where I worked and where I was from. It's none of her business.

There aren't many options for this cuisine in Annapolis. In my opinion, the best Chinese food in Annapolis is here.Crispy beef is my go to. Great sized portions, friendly staff. Lots of room for dining in.Plenty of parking in the shopping center adjacent of the restaurant.

We found this restaurant back in October of 2021. My wife and I were heading back to the Lower Eastern Shore from BWI Airport and wanted to stop some place for dinner. We were in the mood for Chinese and Googled to learn about Chinese restaurants on the way. We decide to try The Canton Restaurant. It's not fancy, but more on the retro side and clean. The service was quick and the server very nice. The food here is freshly prepared. No scooping from a premade tray and running the plates out to the table. All the vegetables used in the dishes were fresh. The amount of food given was plentiful and the prices very fair. We both had leftovers to take home for lunch/dinner the next day. The Canton Restaurant is now the place we stop for lunch or dinner when we're going to or returning home from BWI. In fact, we stopped there today (2/20/23) on the way to taking my sister-in-law to BWI for her flight back to Seattle. She, too, raved about the quality of the food. If you're interested in good service and wonderful, freshly made Chinese food that is very reasonably priced (three people getting lunch combinations with non alcoholic drinks and food left over to take home with tip was under $50), then you should try The Canton Restaurant.

We've eaten at alot of Chinese restaurants and we came to this one and the food was good.We had the best orange chicken ever. And their hot and sour soup was really good as well. We'll definitely go back again soon and try something different.

My favorite Chinese Restaurant ever! We've been dining here (in house, take out & delivery) since 2005. Portions are huge with delicious, consistent fare. Homemade almond cookies are the best.

I have been on the hunt for a good Chinese spot ever since Hunan in Odenton closed. This place is it. The food is clean, not greasy and super fresh. The shrimp toast was a perfect blend. The general tso was fresh and not spongy at all. The lo mein was light and deliciousI'm very happy to have found it. I'll will definitely be back.

Maybe a bad night but over fried and the wonton soup was bland. Will try again because I love their food and always had a great meal.

Been A Fan Of This Spot Since I Was A Youngster. They no longer have the lunch buffet, but the food is STILL On Point, and the service is Great! Food is Hot and Fresh and VERY TASTY!!! Definitely recommend this restaurant, if you're visiting Annapolis or a native Annapolitan

Christmas Eve, four adults for dinner with one child. Rushed to our table, and then waited to order. Two dishes weren't served. We didn't complain or make a fuss, just left after sitting down at 7:30 and leaving at 9pm. Half of our group didn't eat, because the food wasn't ready. They kept saying it was coming out. Lip stick on the wine glass, and cold soup. This restaurant wouldn't make it in a metro city.
