I wanted to stay in Annapolis but wasn't quite sure what I wanted to eat. Did a quick search and found this delight of a place. I was able to make reservations on the same day (Saturday) My wife and I arrived and were quickly seated. The restaurant has a nice intimate feel however this place was jumping. Tons of people inside with everyone having a good time. Our waitress was sweet. Made good suggestions and was very attentive. For starters we ordered the Crispy Calamri while my wife had a lemon drop for a drink. The Clamari was in fact crispy. Very solid crunch. The marinara sauce was PIPING hot. Good start to our dinner. The lemon drop was a good mix of alcohol and juice. They provide you the cup along with the remainder on the side. BIG TIME PLUS. For Dinner, I was starving. I ordered the Steak N Fries, along with the Rockfish and Not your Ordinary Mac & Cheese. The steak was delicious! Nice and juicy. Cooks to perfection. Fries were crispy. The Fish was tasty and the mashed potatoes were GREAT!!! The Mac & Cheese is definitely not ordinary. There was a tangy taste that I could do without. It was missing something but the rest of my food was so good I could easily overcook it. My wife ordered the Steak Brazil with mashed Potatoes & Broccoli. She also enjoyed her food. Broccoli was fresh. Mashed Potatoes were delicious. She preferred the filet cooked a little more but still ate them. I'd happily come back and plan on returning to J. Alexander. It was a great time. Great service, Wonderful atmosphere, and good food. I enjoyed myself.

We had heard good things about J. Alexanders and decided to give it a try, as it was a successor to Gordon Biersch. I ordered their New England style clam chowder and a French dip sandwich. That usually thick clam chowder was thin and watery. The diced potato pieces were not full cooked and the clam was very sparse. The beef in the French dip sandwich was way undercooked and lacking in flavor.

I had a WONDERFUL experience with my mom here, and we stumbled on this place by chance when we couldn't get into any Irish bars for St Patty's Day weekend!!I must say our server HOLLAND was so phenomenal and made our experience here superb. She explained the menu thoroughly and helped us pick what would be best to try. Also she suggested a delicious wine option that I absolutely loved!! We took to go boxes because this place serves big portions.**Definitely try the chicken avocado salad, cucumber feta salad with mint, the pecan encrusted TROUT, and cheeseburger/fries. EVERYTHING was Amazing. Carrot Cake was over the top;)We will be back soon to this classy yet casual oasis. Perfect for a date night or hanging with mom.

Went for lunch on a beautiful late winter day and sat outside. Many reviewers have commented on the service. Ours was well-paced, but a couple next to us felt ignored. In fairness, they were offered a complimentary starter. We had the calamari which was amazing! Parmesan crumbles were a nice touch. I had the Cypress Salad with dressing on the side. It was a visual delight. One recommendation: a lunch menu could be a nice addition.

I've driven past J. Alexander's so many times that I finally decided to try out with hubby and celebrate a new milestone. Our dinner Reservation was done via Resy application. Smooth and easy. We were attended asap by the host. Upon entry, you get this Intimate feel and the candle lights made it feel idyllic. For starters we had the calamari ! Yum, cooked to crisp. The marinara was top with parmesan. Wine, draft and craft beer available. Def recommend the midnight margarita, and the untitled art. Our dinner entrees were tasteful and cooked to perfection. Service was great. Staff were very attentive and met all needs. If you're looking for some fine dining , come out and enjoy at J. Alexander's !

Four of us ordered steaks (large filet mignons and ribeyes) and they came out cooked to temperature in the center but the char on the steak overwhelmed what little flavor. The loaded baked potato was difficult to eat with all ingredients pile up like tower.We have eaten and some of the best steakhouses. This one has higher prices than most. When you pay $46 for a steak it should have flavor. They just over char the steaks with too hot a flame, I guess.
