Terrible experience!!!! Ordered an entree and asked the waiter if i could swap out for another dish due to the awkward taste. Literally less than 5 minutes from when the dish was brought out and the waiter said it won’t be possible. The dish was left at the restaurant because the taste was so horrible. Not coming back!

The manager is ridiculous. My cream of crab soup came with crab meat that looked like it was previously frozen. It also was thick as hell. I advised the bartender (YaYa who was sweet as pie) of the issue and the manger (Ed) came down and said I'm not taking it off the bill because we make everything fresh here. I asked if I could get something else and he stated if you pay for it. He said I can box it up for you to give it to someone else. I asked to do what with? He said I'm just trying to give you some options. So my option is to pay and take it or pay and trash it? Not only was his attitude atrocious but lack of customer service was horrific.

The fresh oysters are always so delicious whenever I get them which is every time I go there lol. Haven’t been there for brunch yet so it was nice to try a different menu for a change. Always a great atmosphere and a great attitude on pretty much all of the staff. The only issue I had was we were sitting in the front seating area when you first walk in the place and there were two waitresses going back and forth with the area I was seated in and looked like one of them was going upstairs here and there too. For the two other couples that were seated around myself in that little front area the amount of times we were checked on was under par in my opinion to a point that I had to get up and remove my tray that the oysters were on to make room on the table and to also get napkins that we never got. It isn’t the end of the world and I didn’t mind it either since I’m a young man myself, but from someone who works in the customer service industry it could be better in my opinion. Other than that I never have had and highly doubt I ever will have a bad experience at Mama’s On The Half Shell. The Staff is so awesome and welcoming, the food is always fresh and delicious, and it’s a place with a comforting and fun vibe along with that tavern setting too. I hope if your visiting The Baltimore waterfront you go check out Not only Mama’s On The Half Shell but also Canton Square.Parking: Parking is hit or miss in Canton Square on a not busy day so just be patient with finding available parking if there is a special event going on. I was lucky to find something close, but it can become a bit of a hassle. This is not in any way Mama’s On The Half Shell fault by any means at least in my opinion just to clarify.Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp that leads into the restaurant once you go through the front door. And some seating for someone with a handicap or in a wheelchair.

I went to this location on Saturday for the first time and the service was horrible! I ordered the seafood chowder and it was too salty to me, so I let the waitress know and she said okay I will be right back. She never came back but the manager came to the table and just stood there until I asked who he was…he stated that his name was Eddie the manager. So I proceeded to tell him that the chowder was too salty and he went on to tell me that he tasted the chowder and that it was made right and not salty. I said okay well it was salty to me and he said that he can’t remove it from the bill so I said okay well can i replace it with the crab soup he said no! So not only was my first experience horrible the face that they are the first restaurant I’ve ever been to not willing to accommodate the customer is absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!

Yesterday me and a couple girlfriends of mine went out for a late lunch at mamas on the half shelf (all of our first time) at their downtown Baltimore location. Let me just start by saying the waiter we had was really nice and attentive to our service for the most part. The overall presentation of the food was really nice l myself ordered a meal called the chicken Chesapeake, it was me and 3 other girlfriends of mine that ordered food. There was 3 starters that was ordered 1 being their crab dip (the overall presentation of that was nice) however it tasted like straight cream cheese, you couldn’t even taste any crab if there was crab in it, which that wasn’t the issue. The issue was it tasted like nothing but cream cheese! And it wasn’t just me who thought this. So we get our waiters attention, we explain everything to him he then tells us “oh if there isn’t a real issue then we can’t take it off your bill nor can we switch it out. All we asked was can we have another starter instead. This crab dip was 22.00 dollars, it tasted like cream cheese only! The waiter gets the manager we explain it to him. Manager: “well we have had other ppl order it today and they didn’t have any issues and I sure you there is crab in there we make it off the original recipe.” we all look like ? and say “we aren’t saying there is no crab in there, we are saying it taste like nothing but cream cheese and would just rather have another order of the crab cake egg rolls. The manager says “unfortunately since there is nothing really wrong with the food we cannot take it back, take it off your bill or exchange it” So we’re all like so wait, we have to keep it regardless of us not liking it?? He said yes. I personally feel like it was unacceptable and if a customer doesn’t like what is ordered they should not have to keep the food. I feel like the manager telling us “well we have had others order this today and there wasn’t a problem.” That was completely unacceptable on every level! I personally don’t care what anyone else ordered and if they had a problem or not. We all did enjoy our entrees they was good however, my one friend ordered wings with a side of fries, she literally had to ask 3 times if her fries was ready. The food however is very over priced but I’m a foodie all I do is eat, so if I’m spending my money on food, i expect it to be good. Our bill came to about 200.00 dollars which included the crab dip they refused to take of my bill. This situation was just unacceptable, I have had crab dip plenty of times and never has it tasted like just cream cheese only!
