This was our first time here and it’s already one of my favorite restaurants in Baltimore. The food was great but knocked a couple stars down because they were out of two items. But the staff were on it and had a great sense of humor!

Ummm great spot. A little pricey in the liquor side but alright. Has a basement bar which is cool. Happy hours is decent. Service is good.

All I wanted was a late night bite before meeting up with friends at a bar later. I didn't realize that the downtown Charles Street and R House (Remington) eateries were closed or closing by 9 p.m. on a Sunday night. I stopped by at the upper bar of The Brewer's Art on the off chance--and was rewarded with an open kitchen and helpful bar tenders, despite an empty bar (however, the basement bar was busy with people). I enjoyed the Caesar with grilled chicken and even had enough left to take home for later. Note: You order at the main upstairs bar but will get table service that includes the lounge area nearby; farther back is an ample dinning room where the menu is the same but with a prix fixe menu and ongoing specials. Whether you want to toss back drinks at an upper or grotto bar or choose from a variety of fine dinner fare--or a late night munch and drink--The Brewer's Art is a great Baltimore hangout to feel like you're a part of the city vibe!

In my last two visits, I was disappointed in food that I ordered. It appears that my once go to hang out for myself and my friends, has moved itself from being a great place to meet up, have a few drinks, and eat. Now they become over priced since they no longer have the sunday happy hour and the food has become a very poor value for the price. On both visit we ordered their once fantastic Garlic Rosemary Fries. They've always been nice long shoestring fries with plenty of garlic and rosemary. On both visits we got a plate full of fries that looked to be the bottom of the bag. Not one of them more than about 3/4 of an inch. You could not even pick them up and dip them in the mayo or ketchup. ON the second visit we returned them only to have a new plate of fries that only half the plate were this way. My main dish on the first trip was the sausage plater. What a big disappointment. They have gone from a variety of four or five sausages to only two sausages that I could have bought at my local grocery. Each Sausage about the size of an average hot dog. The second visit I ordered an old stand by, The Caesar Salad with Chicken Breast. ($21) The picture I added is the plate I got. Past salads were a generous mound of romaine lettuce with crisp parmesan cheese and more recently, an airline chicken breast. This time I receive a much smaller amount of lettuce ( about 1/3 than past) and the small chicken tender. Really It was a chicken tender. Barely any caesar dressing, no cheese that I could recognize. It was like I was eating plain lettuce and a broiled chicken tender. I left hunger and stopped and ate at another restaurant on my way home. Our group, who had been going here for over a decade decided that through the year the quality and value of the food has diminished each time they hired a new chef. We hung in there hoping that things would change but with the latest change in chefs, and the lack of happy hour, the once great place to meet up with friends has become a thing of the past. This is not to say the the food was bad, it's just not worth the price you have to pay. The staff has always been a joy to see and gone out of their way to take care of us to the extent they were able. To sum it all up I would say that the Brewer's Art has manage to move itself form being an exceptional value, with exceptional food and beer, to being nothing more than pedestrian at best lacking the value that warrants the prices you have to pay.

I absolutely devoured my vegan burger and rosemary fries. The house brewed golden ale was delicious too! Very strange but charming decor. Definitely recommend for dinner!Vegetarian options: Really enjoyed vegan burger with fries

Fantastic service, good beer, really defined separation between bar area and restaurant. Will have dinner here on a future visit.

A trip to Brewer's Art for a Valentine's Day dinner left me pining after memories of better times at this neighborhood gem. This was a regular spot for me when I was in law school (2016-19), as it's just down the street from both the school and my old apartment. Many a raucous night was had in the basement bar and pleasant drinks and food enjoyed at the upstairs bar in front - a gorgeous space. Back then, I rarely ate in either dining room - in fact, that may have happened only once. Fast forward to 2024 and we experienced what I hope was just an off night. Upon arrival, we were brought to the rearmost dining room and seated next to the doorway to the service area. I definitely blame myself for not asking to be seated in another part of the room, given that there were at least 8 other vacant two-tops and the room was mostly empty. The sounds coming from the doorway all night were very loud - clanging plates, shouts of "CORNER" from servers. I get it, I worked at a restaurant for 7 years, but don't shove a table right next to where diners are subjected to such a din. For Valentine's, a three-course prix fixe menu was on offer, with a choice of Caesar salad or lobster bisque as a starter, steak and shrimp, chicken, or gnocchi (I believe) as an entree, and a chocolate tart or red velvet cupcake as dessert for $62/pp. There was also a deal on bottles of wine - 50% off bottles with a list price of $50 or more. So, things looked good from the outset, despite the seating arrangement. The French red we ordered was very solid, especially at $30 with the discount (we had to have our check corrected later because the discount had not been applied). 3/5 For the first course, we both ordered the bisque. When it comes to seafood, I've only had mussels here (years ago), which were always good, so this was admittedly a bit of a risk. This bisque was oversalted and had no discernable pieces of lobster in it. If it was made in house, it didn't taste as though it was. 0/5 The steak entree with the prix fixe was different from the steak frites entree on the regular menu - the prix fixe entree was supposed to come with shrimp and different sides. So, we were surprised when the runner dropped to normal steak frites at our table (one medium, one medium rare - the correct temperatures we ordered - "Steak & Shrimp" was also correctly reflected on our check). Definitely a miscommunication with the kitchen - we tried to find our server to ask, but she was nowhere to be found. And, we were staving. So - we just stuck with the steak frites. I've always enjoyed this entree here medium rare. This evening, I ordered mine medium rare and it was very, very rare. Raw. Not edible. And, not once did the server come and ask how everything was tasting. They were perfectly pleasant otherwise, but it seemed like they may have been a tad overwhelmed and that resulted in a breakdown in the sequence of service. Dessert was pretty unremarkable. Edible but I wouldn't have felt it was worth whatever it would have cost a la carte. Capped off one of my more lackluster Valentine's restaurant experiences (at least the company was 5 stars!). I've had so many wonderful meals and evenings here and hope that my next one is a better reflection of how good I know this spot can really be.

The place is absolutely gorgeous. There was the option to sit at the bar, in seating in an adjacent room, or regular table service. The food was delicious. Simple and comforting but still impressive. Beer was creative, delicious, satisfying after a long day...all that good stuff.

We expected the outstanding drinks: their house brews are generally superb (I got the GPT Green Peppercorn Tripel). The food was also high-quality, especially the sausage platter and the very rich house-made ice cream. Staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive.

My husband and I previously viewed Brewers Art as a staple in the neighborhood, until today….After having a wonderful dinner at the restaurant, we ordered dessert from their menu to-go. Once getting home we learned that the kitchen literally sent us home with an order of burnt cookies, which were black on the bottom and the top. We believe that it was intentional given that no one in their right mind would have served this. Absolutely ridiculous and poor service! Very disappointed!

If you've never been to Baltimore's finest and coziest restaurants, it's time that you tried the Brewers Art. The food is delicious, the service is excellent and the ambiance is unmatched. Try it. You'll like it.
