Our favorite local sushi place. Rolls are cheap, but not TOO cheap - quality is good, and we've always enjoyed our meals. I prefer to take my wife for date night - this is six regular rolls, and on the boat without asking for a boat! We love Yama!
Decent sashimi and nigiri and price is fiar. I would'nt say its best in baltimore.

Somehow we have never been to Yama. We are so glad to have finally gone. We went on a Friday evening and had a short 10-15 minute wait for a table. Once we were seated, everything was great. Our server was super nice, quick and great at helping with menu questions. The offered a nice small cucumber salad as a starter, then we ordered two appetizers. The Peppered Tuna was insanely good! Peppery and spicy, a perfect bite. Even the asparagus underneath was great. We also ordered the Shumai, delicious tiny pork dumplings, also quite good. For dinner, we ordered a few standard rolls and a few specialty rolls. The spicy tuna and spicy salmon were both very good. We ordered the Ocean roll, Supreme Roll, Green Dragon and the Bumblebee. Wow, they were all so good, perhaps the least impressive was the Green Dragon, not bad, just kinda bland. The other three were so good and impressed all 3 of us. We felt "not too full" after dinner so decided to sample a couple of the desserts. We got the fried cheesecake, it was ok, the cheesecake was good, the crust was not as good. We also got strawberry mochi and they were so tasty and the chewy coating was fun. Recommend. We look forward to coming back to Yama soon!My complaint to the owners of this restaurant is this: In 2024 to not have refills on soda is ridiculous. Everyone knows that soda is super cheap. Your $1.50 is a good price, but charge $2 and allow for refills.

I went to this restaurant recently and didn’t have the best experience. We ordered a sashimi starter and the salmon was frozen. It felt like I was eating salmon ice cream. Horrible. All the sushi rolls were falling apart. I am a sushi lover and was very disappointed with my experience at this place.

From a takeout perspective, ordered the 20 piece sushi dinner but I think there was a mix up and we got 20 pieces of sashimi instead. Didn't realize until we got home. Sashimi was good but the sushi was a win. When dining, it's a casual small restaurant with a casual ambiance. Appears often busy and well located. The miso and clear soup are fresh and hot. Would recommend the sunset sushi roll. Vegetarian options were less thrilling.
Small, Cozy, local and pretty busy over the weekends. The service is okay and food is flavorful. Complimentary Cucumber salad with green tea makes the experience better.
