The place appears a bit off the beaten path when you get to it, but fortunately there is parking and it’s easy to find. Was welcomed by the bartender who served as the waiter, cashier, host and generally Jack of all trades. I even thought he was going to be making our meal. Fortunately the chef was busy in the back and clearly knew the craft. There are not enough good things to say about the meal which started off with an appetizer of authentic Kenyan sausages, which are the best in the world, hands-down. This was then followed by goat curry (mbuzi) with kale (sukuma wiki) and ugali (maizemal) which tasted as if it had been made straight from a kitchen back in Nairobi. They even had fresh pili pili (green hot pepper) on the side for that extra kick. Will definitely visit again and wash the meal down with the frothy waters of Belgium. The seating was comfortable and the televisions were not too loud. They even had a pool table for those so inclined to mix games with a good meal.Definitely top five in my book & is highly recommended. Will have to try something else from the menu next time.

This place is usually a chill spot with cool vibes. However, this time the bar attendant had a weird attitude and was using different tricks to get tips. Taking so long to take my order on purpose, served my food with an attitude, etc! He definitely did not deserve an automatic gratuity!

Who does $250 platters with barely nothing on it in such a dingy place? Getting too big for your breeches. Might as well go round the corner to Swahili Village. At least the venue is not a hole in the wall. Quit the day time thuggery

The restaurant was like going to after party. I love the atmosphere the music was loud but that's just what it is. The curry chicken was delicious a little on the salty side. The fried goat was tasty somewhat tough to chew. I will definitely go back for a better experience.

This is an interesting spot. It was a couple of doors down from Jody's, the place that will forever have my heart... RIP. Anyways, Phil's has been around for a long time. There was a day when I got to the area quite early -- it was before Jody's opened, so I stopped in Phil's just to check it out. It's a spacious bar with a lot of tables too... the right side is where the entrance is, and half of the large bar. There's a DJ booth in the corner as well. The opposite side has pool tables... now, an interesting thing I noticed (at least when I went is that during the day the lighting is the same all around. But at night, the main entrance side is dark, while the side with the pool tables is so bright! It makes for quite the interesting contrast lol.So they have specials, tend to vary on the daily, but mostly it's rails and beers. On my last occasion, I just had drinks, which were fine! I had a margarita or two that hit the right spot. When I did eat a couple of times before, I had their goat, which was just okay -- it was quite chewy! Their food menu goes for a West African cuisine. I'm pretty sure this is the only spot I know that combines happy hour, sports bar and African food into one package. I approve! All in all it's a vibe -- it's not my favorite spot, but will go whenever I'm in the mood for something different.
