I discovered Patisserie Manuel at the Shady Grove Farmer's Market. I was so excited when they opened a location in the Montgomery Mall food court but shortly after the pandemic hit and I didn't get a chance to check them out until I hear they were closing it. When I arrived, there wasn't much selection left.I bought the following: Assorted Pastries (Black Forest, Tiramisu, Rouge, Four Leches), Croissants (Butter Croissant, Pear Almond Croissant), Cookies (Chocolate Chip Cookies), and a Beef Empanada. I enjoyed everything except for the beef empanada, which wasn't what I expected it to be like.

This location of Patisserie Manual, a French bakery, is located in the food court of Westfield Montgomery Mall right next to McDonald's. Although the menu at this location isn't as extensive as their Silver Spring location, they still offer a decent amount of Viennoiseries (croissants, scones), mini cakes and tarts, macarons, and beverages. I've been to this location a few times both pre- and post-covid and there is also consistency in the quality of their baked goods. I've tried various croissants and pastries, and although I've enjoyed all the items I had, my favorite definitely has to be the croissants. The chocolate, alond, and creme brulee croissants are so good. Buttery, flaky, crispy, and filled with a good amount of chocolate/almond paste/custard. Definitely a must when you visit! I've also had the Claudia cake (hazelnut cake filled with praline cream and chocolate mousse) and Mon Amour (coconut cake topped with mango/passion fruit coconut mousse). Both had the right amount of sweetness to them and taste very fresh. Preference was for the Claudia cake, which wasn't surprising as I really like hazelnut. Service has always been friendly and efficient. Lots of parking is available in the garage attached to the food court or in the lot right in front of Macy's.

Wow. Best patisserie in the DMV area! So happy we found this place. Highly recommended! Our favorites are the chocolate almond croissant. The breads are also AMAZING.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this place. Sure, the desserts are pretty but how do they taste? Cannelés de Bordeaux - this had a crispy outer shell with delicious custard - my only problem with it is I wished I had a second one Crème brûlée Croissant - this had a outer caramelized sugar with yummy filling. It definitely had that crunch from the caramelized outer shell. Lemon Poppyseed Scone - I was worried that this may be too sweet because of the icing; however it had just the right amount of sweetness. Pear Almond Tart - perfectly crispy almond tart shell and almond flavor cream topped with baked pear slices and almond slices. Black Forest- delicious sponge cake soaked with brandy. So not only were pretty, they were all very delicious. I would give an A+ for my experience.

Quite possibly the best pastries in the DMV, at the very least the best almond croissants! We've tried numerous patisseries, bakeries, restaurants, and dessert shops from the DMV to Los Angeles to Hong Kong to Paris... and none of them can even come close to comparing to the almond croissants at Patisserie Manuel. Please keep up the great job and hopefully someday you'll also make kouign-amanns ;)

Highly recommend!! They did a fantastic job on a birthday fruit tart. It tasted SO good and looked stunning. Will DEFINITELY be ordering from them again! Very safe touchless pick up as well.

We drove a 45 minutes to VA to get some assorted kind of a typical sweets from Chile, my native country, to celebrate our independence weekend at home, under the circumstances, anyhow, everything is delicious , as also, very well done, with a touch of a French bakery. I found a cake made with a unique fruit that grows only in Chile, named lúcuma, with meringue, delicious. If you want to try and taste a real good and quality food and service from the crew, a 10 plus. Gracias y feliz 18

I'll start out with the positives.. friendly staff, clean and they had plenty of pastries. Now onto the things that could improve, its overpriced. I tried a churrasco, which was the size of my palm , and for what you get it's not worth $8.95. The meat was super tough as well. We also tried a chilenito which is basically dough and manjar, $3.00 a dobladita (folded bread) $1.05 which was hard as a rock... and a pastry called torta de mil hojas which is a layered cake with manjar ($6.25). Everything lacked flavor. As a Chilean I was highly disappointed, you can get better from other individuals that sell chilean treats. A cheese empanada is somwhere around $4 ( a $1 cheaper than beef) and it's just fried dough and cheese. Overall just disappointed, maybe the other pastries have more flavor.

Disappointed! Dried out macrons. Tasteless fruit tart. I'm glad I controlled myself from purchasing more items in one go.
