Unfortunately, my experience at Tastee Diner was pretty subpar. I love that this place is still thriving after all these years—it’s important to support local businesses with rich histories—but the food was just not the best.I got the waffle with over easy eggs and bacon, as well as a side of grits. The waffle was average and I didn’t like their artificial syrup (6/10). The bacon (8/10) and grits were pretty normal, though I needed a lot of salt for the grits (6/10). Finally, the eggs: the whites weren’t fully cooked! When I took a bite, I got a film of raw egg white. I like my eggs over easy, but these were just a raw and unpleasant experience (2/10).The atmosphere is lived in and exciting, but I wouldn’t come here again for the food.

I was visiting Bethesda with the family and wanted something we don't have in central Illinois. After searching Google for help, I came across Tastee Diner, and it didn't disappoint. My wife had liver and onions, which she said was amazing. I went with the seafood platter. The oysters were good, as well as the flounder, clams, and shrimp. Kids ate breakfast food, and they were content, and its hard to satisfy all three of them. I would recommend this place to anyone. Quiet place, and the staff was awesome. 84 dollars for 6 people to eat can't beat it.

Has a classic railroad car diner field. Some of the place needs to be updated a little bit but great food. Great service! Definitely a place to go if you want that classic Americana diner feel. PS. They also have very good milkshakes.

I will however state that if it appears that they are under staffed make the smart decision to limit your food options and pick a specific cuisine because although the staff is quite friendly when short-staffed ACTING HAPPY isn’t their strong suit.

After all these years, this is still one of my favorite places. I'm a little upset to find that I drove out here in the middle of the night for a Nosh and they're no longer open 24 hours or even late night. But I understand times are different, especially after COVID. I'm looking forward to that delicious diner food next time I'm out this way.
