Great food and liked the atmosphere. Our server was pleasant but didn't know much about the menu and was not very attentive.

Went here because the original spot didn't have the red snapper. Was hoping this being the second spot for jerk and jive would be the same was a wrong in every way. Got the jerk salmon oxtail goat curry and red snapper all with the rice and beans. Frist off the rice and beans was uncle Ben's and caned beans at best over cooked and flavorless next the rest of the sides the fried plantains were from sysco or foodpro same ones chef lins uses good job on the never fresh same goes for the Mac and cheese craft has never taste and the veg has the lingering taste of freezer, the fried cabbage is boiled not sure German is the way to go for a jerk joint. The collards had more hot sauce then greens and the jerk tots, why are they sweet? The main proteins jerk salmon was so dry the only thing that saved it was bbq. The goat curry to was dry and I could not figure out how you make a goat curry turn into jerky, next was he oxtail which was over pressure cooked to the point you killed it and when it went over the rice all the gelatin on the rice was horrible and last the red snapper was so dry it was as if it died in the window and because it was takeout was the this will do. This place needs a real chef and people that care about the food to make it dance with flavors not this.

I absolutely love Jerk and Jive. I have visited on several occasions. The staff is always amazing, the food is magnificent and the owner/manager is very humble. I was just there for a birthday brunch with friends and I don't care for waffles but man oh man, those were the best waffles I have ever eaten. If you have not been, please go just because you're being nosey ?. I highly recommend Jerk and Jive on Prospect St. Frederick, MDSatisfied Hagerstown CustomerTeresa

We've been here more than enough times to know it's worth coming back however whoever is working there now is absolutely ridiculous under trained and indeed managed we watched our food on the counter for over 15 minutes before we asked if we should get it ourself asked for the manager who was too busy making omelettes and texting "his boss" to come see what the concern is I approached him and he had no apology for his staff using their dirty hands to sprinkle garnish on plates after walking around the whole restaurant touching who knows what. I have always loved this restaurant but they have truly lost what was special about them after this it's sad once a restaurant gets good they can't stay that way. The manager brushed me off and was rude and the server is clearly inexperienced and needs to be trained properly

Service was below average. Entrees were ok. Desserts don't order. Not fresh Server was we assume new. Drink's very strong and came after we received entrees. Restaurant was not busy. Not sure if we will be back

Food is delicious, abundance & eye-feast. Service is fast & quite pushy. The ambiance is tropical & light is dimmed perfectly. I highly recommend fish tacos.

Unfortunately, my experience was very unimpressive. I came on Sunday for their bottomless brunch buffet and bottomless mimosas. Bottomless brunch buffet is $34/pp and the bottomless mimosas are an additional $12/pp. I had been wanting to try Jerk N Jive since I moved to Maryland 3 years ago, but their prices always threw me off. I figured the bottomless brunch was a good opportunity to give them a try (I was drawn in by the bottomless mimosas since there's only one other place I know in Frederick that offers that lol). Walking in to the place, I was pleasantly surprised with the vibe. It's a lot nicer than I was expecting. Not fancy by any means, but not casual or hole in the wall. It looks clean and it's not too noisy. Average noise level at most. Our server was very attentive. He checked on us several times throughout our time there. It was not very busy when we got there (11am Sunday) and didn't get too much busier while we were there. Now to the food: very unimpressive!!! I was actually quite disappointed with the buffet food. It seemed to be kept warm not hot, so by the time you got to your seat your food was cold already. With the cost of the buffet, I was expecting so much more. For what you get, it seemed more like a $20 buffet than a $34 one! I tried the curry chicken (was good!), the peas and rice (not bad), sausage and bacon (O-K), gravy (not warm/hot enough!!! It was O-K), jerk salmon (needed more flavor, kinda bland), waffle (AMAZING!), French toast (meh), fried chicken (very bland), and an omelet from the omelet station (MEH! Too eggy for me considering the toppings ratio. Maybe I should've asked for a little less egg). The bottomless mimosas comes with a flavor you choose and they just bring you a bottle. I chose strawberry so they gave me a bottle of champagne and strawberry syrup. I had to pour it and mix it myself. Overall, my favorite things here were the curry chicken and the waffles!! Not even the mimosa made anything better. I'm glad I tried it but I don't think I'll be back. I think it's overpriced for the quality you actually get. I feel like you pay just as much as Dutch's Daughter for lesser quality presentation and food. I love a great bottomless brunch, especially mimosas! They would've had me as a returning customer had it been on point.

I ordered the escovich for lunch toda (Wednesday) and it was as if it was just washed and fried. No seasoning. Nothing near the Jamaican ethnicity. It’s not as when they first open. I was so disappointed with my food and the rice was hard, old rice and peas. I had to send it back twice. The 3rd try I was over it. My $30 fish was horrible. Please bring back your Jamaican chefs because the restaurant is losing its customers because the fish have no flavor. I was asked how hot I said mild… FYI mild does not mean fresh with no seasoning !! I’m so damn disappointed after driving 40 mins to be disappointed and miserable smdh !!!

I wouldn't come again even if the food was free. This location is HORRIBLE. I came with a party of 20, all prepared to pay in cash for a birthday on Saturday just prior to 7pm. There were not a lot of patrons. It was 8:01pm before the waitress took our order. Many employees were seemingly available. I hear it's the owner's birthday and they're all busy trying to make a buffet for him. DO NOT COME HERE. It was really crappy seeing other birthday people come in, get treated like superstars by staff, orders taken within minutes, etc. FORGET YOU, JEFFERSON ST LOCATION. Do not come here if you want to eat. I've been here almost 90 mins now and no food.Update: Got food 2hrs & 7 mins later. No one who ordered the Marley Burger got onion wings, waitress told us 20 mins ago onion rings were in the fryer & coming, well check came & we got no rings but charged for fries we didnt get. Glad the owner was here to see other tables come in after and ger served before us all night, got to see him walk past a couple times, ignoring the everyone else. Glad for that built-in gratuity. Glad for no refills after the food got there (end sarcasm). GO TO MCDONALDS, INSTEAD.

Me and a friend arrived at Jerk n Jive around 2:00 pm. Rating for each item including sides. We ordered spinach and crab dip rating 2, Maryland wings rating 2, curry goat rating 2, crab cakes rating 1, and 4 drinks with shots on the side rating 5. mac and cheese rating 3, greens rating 4, red beans and rice rating 4.. All the food lacked luster and definately lacked that wow factor ( seasoning ). Absolutely no flavor except for the greens. My crab cake was not like the picture. My crab cake were flat like a flat salmon cake. That threw me completely off after the cost of the meal and Maryland being famous for crab cakes. Such a disappointment. The crab smelled old. Did not eat it when I got home. This is my second time at this location and was disappointed both times. Almost forgot we ordered Calamari as well VERY DRY. My advice would be to honor the beautiful space you have, the customers and the staff by hiring quality chefs. Hire people that can actually cook. Most people will travel for great food, great drinks, great ambiance = Great Experience. I grew up on great Jamaican food at places on Georgia Ave. in DC like The Turn Tables in the 80's and 90's , 13th and Upshur, T&T and Tobago, not to mention the bakery that sold the best chicken ever only on Sunday etc... These places were packed with people, great drink, excellent food and music. You do have a great band. I saw them on my first visit. You have great bartender and servers. If you can't hire chefs please grab some of your family that can really cook. Jerk and Jive can do better.

The food was great, especially the brown chicken stew. The service was great and atmosphere was good. I'm told they also have a good brunch and live music & other events as well.

We have been here many times over. The food is ALWAYS great and weel seasoned, service/ staff are attentive, and the atmosphere is nice. When guests come into town, this is one of the restaurants that we bring them to, and no one has been disappointed. The menu has something for everyone!!! Lately, it has been empty/ not many patrons when we have dined - I think this may have to do with the lack of updating/not being very active on social media? Don't let that deter you from trying this place out.
