It is worse restaurant I have ever try… bad and liars…. I have never seen “Spicy noodles soup” (bun bo hue) like this in my life (I am Vietnamese)

Napoliya Pal

Ordered the bun bo hue and VERY disappointed with it! The noodles weren’t the correct kind that usually is in bun bo hue, the meat was a very thick cut and hard to eat, and the soup was tasteless. Also order some pho and the broth is super oily. Even the condiment if hoisin sauce and sriracha was watery.

Veges were not too fresh but the flavor of the soup made up for that.

Very disappointed with pho and combination rice. The meat was chewy and tasteless. Noodles very hard. Broth had a questionable aroma to it, as you would get from old thawed bones. The combination rice was greasy with a distinct old shrimp after taste.Chririspy rolls were the only redeeming item but I am afraid that conclusion was based on contrast. They tasted "fun" but where definitely fried in old oil.I am weary to give this place another try.

My most favorite pho place in Maryland! Kind people with exquisite pho

Had the Vietnamese chicken lemongrass sandwich, and loved it!! Atmosphere is pretty basic, but the food was great.

The summer rolls were good, but the spring rolls and the entree were like nothing I had ever seen. The crispy rolls were that deep dark brown color you get when you refry something that’s already been cooked once. Texture was greasy and mushy; taste was terrible. And vegetables in my entree were actually mushy. Liked overcooked frozen vegetables. Sauce appeared to be just soy sauces poured over. Threw the entire entree and crispy rolls away.

We had gotten garden rolls from here before and they were great. I picked up 3 orders of garden rolls earlier & they smelled rotten. Couldn’t eat any of them. Threw them all away. Won’t come here again!

Ordered the large number 12, supposed to be well done. Received a large raw meat bowl of pho with a staple inside. Called the restaurant to make them aware and the guy didn’t care at all.

This was a new place for me - although I have Vietnamese food pretty often. The people are really nice - and the prices reasonable. I asked for some herbs on the side and they were very nice and accommodating. My husband loved the pho. I had vermicelli and it was nicely done and the grilled pork chop was amazing. The soft summer rolls were very good, but the crispy rolls were not crispy at all. The biggest disappointment for me was the Ngoc Mam tasted like it was watered down. Next time I will stick to the pho and the summer rolls.

Our food was very disappointing! Our summer rolls were the worst we have ever had! They were literally warm soggy lettuce with frozen shrimp, zero freshness or flavor. The peanut sauce didn't taste like peanut and was totally watered down, the consistency was water like as well. The pho was also awful. The broth was super sweet, it was not at all savory or flavorful.

I must preface stating Pho Basil is located in Frederick, MD, not Northern VA, DC or even the Rockvile area where Pho restaurants are more common. So there is llittle to no competition in the area. The GOOD... Pho Basil is ok, and the dining area was relatively clean. The pho broth is slightly above average and the meat and noodle quality is good. I got a smaller bowl so I cannot comment much on the quantity of meat but it was right for the bowl size. The BAD... The green vegetables (Basil & Cilantro) were NOT fresh and I didn't even want it in the soup. However, the chili peppers and bean sprouts were fresh. ALSO, the "fresh" garden roll wrappers were not so fresh and my biggest disappointment was bland and watered down Vietnamese iced coffee. As the only choice in Frederick, Pho Basil is ok because of the broth can tide you over if you have a Pho craving. However, relative to other Pho restaurants closer to the DMV, overall it's not as good.

Owners/cooks/servers are all lovely and very customer oriented. Restaurant is clean, and the food is authentic and helps warm my soul and spirits. Peaceful place to relax and eat Pho (my favorite isNIG bowl of the “house special “ ). Other specialties offered as well as Thai tea and other dishes. Susie Brown-Barboúr New Market, MD
