So, lately I've been on the hunt for a new Chinese restaurant. The place that I used to frequent went under new management and decided to take short cuts. It's been just over a year, and it's been rough finding something in the area that can even come close. It's gotten to the point that I wasn't even about to try Hunan Express, because of how terrible the other places in the area have been. However, I'm glad I did. The food here is not perfect, but it's decent. They have huge portions, and the food actually has flavor. Last night we ordered the General Tso's chicken, 5 pc wing combo, and sweer & Sour chicken. We also ordered fried wontons, and the meals came with egg rolls and soup. The General Tso's chicken came in a container filled to the brim with pork fried rice. The chicken could've been crispier, and less saucy, but it was decent. I feel like if I specified how I wanted it, they could easily adjust it for me as other have in the past. I just don't like my chicken swimming in the sauce. The sweet & sour chicken was spot on, and actually tasted similar to the carryouts around where I grew up at. A little soy sauce on the chicken and the salty from the soy sauce goes well with the sweet and sour combination of the sauce. The wontons were meh! Hard over fried and not that good, but the hot and sour soup was on the money. The egg rolls were decent, but a little greasy. I wish they were crispier, but outside of having to remove some of the grease they were pretty good. The wings were also solid, my only hold up is that they break the wings down into flats and drumsticks and count them each. So a 5 pc wing is only 2.5 wings (3 flats and 2 drumsticks or vice versa), and the fries were soggy. I feel like even though the food isn't perfect, it's still solid. It's not just completely bland or bad. I'm okay with adding soy sauce to something I feel needs a boost, but I am against food that is just not prepared well, and I think that's where Hunan Express edges the other guys out. On top of that the store is clean, and that's something I feel you have to pay attention to these days. The thing is I'm not looking for authentic Chinese cuisine, I'm looking for good Chinese carryout food. I'm looking for something quick and reliable, on a night when I'd rather hang with the kids and be lazy. I can't say that this is going to be our new weekly replacement, but atleast between here, and 2 other spots that require some driving, we can get by...overall I'd give the food a 6.5 - MAYBE 7 out of 10

I was asked to give a 5 star review for free for egg rolls. When my order arrived the food was poorly prepared. The couple who run the business were rude and disrespectful. When I left displeased, I discover they forgotten a couple dishes of my food even-though they charged me for it on my receipt. The standard seem to have changed with new management. I’m not coming back again.

12/6/2023: Very happy will overall experience. Easy telephone ordering and quick prep. Ordered Chicken with Cashews, Chicken Lo Mein and General Tso's Chicken dinner combo. Each was fresh and generously portioned. Leftovers have kept us smiling for two days. Can't wait to order again!

Pardon the photo quality, but the food was delicious. Upgraded the sesame chicken to white meat for an extra $1.25 but absolutely worth it. Maybe on of the best Chinese take-out chickens I have had in a while. The vegetable lo mein was a bit more greasy than I’d like but not enough to hurt the business’ rating for. The food was well-priced, well-portioned, conveniently located, and tasted great. ?

Was here the evening of 11/28/2022 and ordered Singapore noodles. As I was placing the noodles in a smaller bowl to eat, I found hair in my noodles!!! I called this store right away and the lady asked me to come back and I was able to get something else, but I will never come back to this restaurant ever again, yuck! ???
