Been living in Bryans road for about 5 years now and I pass this place at least once a week. I finally decided to stop and see what they hittin on and I'm glad I did. First of all who I think is the owner asked if this was my first time and I said yes. He gave me two ribs to sample before i proceeded to buy and they were good. I ended up getting the sampler. It came with a thick cut porkchop, a half of chicken and about 4 ribs ($20). Bruhhh so good I didn't even need the bbq sauce for any of it. Oh and I also got the large baked beans they was aight too ($4). T & J Barbecue has been my favorite BBQ place for 20 plus years. I used to eat here regularly when it was run by the first generation, then I moved out of county. Many BBQ places have good food, but T & J BBQ has the best flavor around the DMV. Today, I was driving out of Charles County, about to pass another popular BBQ place in Hughesville, when I thought to myself, this place I'm about to pass is good, but I'm in the mood for the best BBQ. So I pulled over and looked up T& J Barbecue online and discovered they are still in business and they were OPEN. Without hesitation, I drove from Hughesville, to LaPLata, just to see if T & J BBQ was as good as I remembered. I ordered the half rib/half chicken meal with mild sauce, and a minced Pork sandwich. The flavor was delicious just as I hoped it would still be, and the sauce is the best too. They give you some white bread to sop up the extra sauce too. Pure heaven. I ate half my meal in the parking lot, then went back to the counter to purchase another sauce and a beverage. They are not stingy with the sauce, I just wanted more for home use. I could actually survive on a half a loaf of bread and that sauce if I had to. Thanks for another great BBQ meal. It was worth the drive out of my way to get the best BBQ.

This place was hands down the best BBQ we’ve ever had! I wish I took a picture of all the food we got and the people there are very nice and hospitable! You go up and order, there’s no dine in but there’s some tables outside so you can sit and enjoy the scenery. When we left my husband said make sure you write this place down somewhere so we remember where we went. We will definitely be back!
If this place sets ANY standards for B.B.Q. then I'm becoming vegetarian today! Went there because the reviews were good but....what are you people tongue numb? My chicken was dry and looked like something out of a scary movie! (Photos are before the regretted consumption) Mac and Cheese was OVERCOOKED and TASTELESS! Baked beans tasted like the can that they came out of with a whole bag of sugar dumped in and heated up. Good location for travelers in that desolate area, but damn can we at least get good B.B.Q?.....This was so bad that I should be TRIPLE refunded and banned for life! (which would be fine with me because I'm NEVER returning! (UNLESS THE OWNER WANTS TO REFUND ME OF COURSE)I DO THIS SO YOU DONT HAVE TO...SO DONT SAY THAT YOU HAVEN'T BEEN WARNED. THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY REVIEW!
