This place was very cute!!! Great vibes and really good music. I love that they had an Asian mart on one side as well. The food was also solid, I got the spicy miso ramen and a salmon roll that was very good. My friends got the vegan ramen, Philly roll, and volcano and enjoyed all their dishes! The drinks were also BOMB and pretty strong! I liked my friends better - it was called the Grasscutter and it was a gin based drink with cucumber and sake and it was soooo refreshing !

Great place, an amazing service, and they got very unique starters, and side dishes. The place itself is very nice outside, and I would probably recommend it.

I wanted to write a review to give a shoutout to Jordan, the district manager there. This review is in relation to something back late in late June 2023. I suffered a tragic loss, and my husband and I came back from the hospital and after a day or so of just not feeling like eating or cooking, I decided I wanted to get some sushi -- my favorite meal. We love Kusshi and we get it at least 2x a month. For whatever reason, our delivery order didn't get assigned to someone and my husband called the restaurant to see if we could get a new driver. For some reason, the app couldn't do it, and when my husband explained we had suffered a loss (probably TMI on our end...) and we physically could not leave our home to pick it up, Jordan, without hesitation said he'd like to deliver the food on his own and he'd be there in 15 minutes. We were so grateful, shocked, and it was so very nice. He came to our home, and he was so kind in giving his condolences, and he also brought over a note from the staff and also some treats for us on top of the sushi we ordered. Later that night, he sent us a text message again telling us how sorry he was and gave us his email if we ever needed anything. We were absolutely blown away at his care and also just his service. They say that sometimes you forget what people say, but you always remember how someone makes you feel...and Jordan, please know that not only was our sushi delicious (always is!) but it really made us feel seen, and made us feel cared for in a horrid few days, like there was some good in this world and things would pick back up again. I am a customer of Kusshi's for life now, and I tell everyone I know the story of how you all went above and beyond for us and to support you all. I took forever to write this, but I wanted it to be seen so people know this is a delicious restaurant (best sushi in the MoCo area!! My favorite by far is the Ruby Roll - so fresh and delicious), but also a good restaurant with great values and strong leadership. Thank you again for being so kind us to when life was not so kind to us.

Came with a group tonight. Server was great and the ambiance was nice. Shishito peppers had a nice flavor .. wish I'd gotten a hot one but that's the luck of the draw. Dinner was the sashimi sampler ... it came out as the nagiri sampler. (Same thing happened to my friend). We didn't say anything since the price difference wasn't significant. Overall the seafood was delicious. The tuna was my favorite .. followed by the salmon. Regardless of the mixup I enjoyed the meal and would come back .. I'd just make sure I got the sashimi haha.

My wife and I consider their ramen one of the best in the DC area. So, this review will be about their sushi. We went on a Tuesday evening. It wasn't busy. We were seated in the back of the dining room, where it was dark and not visible from the front. Sit at the front of the restaurant if you want light. Their sushi menu had 4 pages. I am not a big fan of raw fish. The selection of sushi that had no uncooked fish is limited to tiger roll, volcano roll, shrimp tempura roll, spider roll, troy roll, Baltimore roll, dragon roll, white dragon roll, crunchy roll, lava roll, pinstripes roll, got beef roll, rolls with just vegetable, and all California rolls. We got 4 rolls. All 4 rolls were placed on a plate with some wasabi and ginger slices. 1) Got Beef Roll It had katsu fried A5 wagyu beef, shitake, and avocado topped with seared A5 wagyu, japanese mayo, tobiko, and Kizami wasabi. It had 8 pieces. A5 waygu is the highest grade of waygu beef. There was breaded wagyu inside with slightly sweet shitake. The wagyu beef was savory, soft, and moist; however, the seared wagyu on top was excessively oily in a thick and gooey way. Too much cornstarch coating on the beef? Tobiko is flying fish eggs. It was tiny, red, and crunchy with a mild smoky and salty flavor. Overall, this was savory, sweet, salty, and mildly spicy. Great savoriness and depth of flavor!! The oil, sweetness, and gooey texture kept this dish from being topnotch. 2) Baltimore Roll It had avocado, lump crabmeat, and Old Bay seasoning. The crabmeat was shredded. There were light flavors of crabmeat and Old Bay with almost no avocado flavor. The piece of avocado was so small that its flavor was buried in the others. We love crab and Old Bay, so this was good, but not special. 3) Phoenix Roll It had shrimp tempura and avocado topped with spicy tuna, masago, spicy mayo, and shredded sweet potato. The topping had a thin slice of raw tuna topped with masago. Masago is capelin fish eggs. The masago was mushy and slightly salty. The shrimp tempura was excellent in taste and texture. Overall, it was spicy, somewhat savory, and mildly salty with balanced flavors of shrimp, fish, and avocado. This was the most flavorful and interesting roll in our order. 4) Smoked Salmon and Asparagus Roll It had smoked salmon and asparagus wrapped with nori and rice. The asparagus was peeled and blanched. It had little flavor. The smoked salmon was good quality with a typical flavor. Average overall. The service was polite, very patient, and responsive. It took 20 minutes for our order to be made. The dining room and restrooms were clean. There was an area at the front of the restaurant where they had Japanese snacks for sale. They have 2 levels of Omakase. The more expensive one serves higher quality ingredients. Omakase is an experience where you allow a chef to craft your meal, and the dishes are unknown to you. Allergies and preferences are discussed beforehand. All of the sushi dishes were well-made. It's going to take some trial and error before we find the ones with exemplary flavors. We had a good experience with the food and service, so we'll be back. There is a parking garage nearby with the first 2 hours free.

While exploring the area, I decided to satisfy my craving for sushi and discovered Kusshi, a restaurant highly praised for its quality.Despite Pike & Rose being renowned for upscale dining experiences, I was surprised when I stepped into Kusshi and found it cramped and crowded, with an unconventional layout inside. The contrast between the inviting exterior and the somewhat chaotic interior was unexpected, reminding me not to judge a restaurant solely by its appearance. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the efficient and speedy service.Although my sushi was slightly flattened by the time I reached home, it still delivered on taste, and my dining experience was enjoyable overall.Parking: With where the restaurant is nestled you’ll have to pay for parking.

Some of the best sushi around. The place gets REALLY busy though. The bar gets packed shoulder to shoulder. For good reason, the drinks are great and the food is delicious. If you don't mind a crowd and waiting a little bit more time for service it's definitely somewhere to check out.

Located at the trendy Pike & Rose area, you can walk across to from the parking garage that's free for 2 hours but can be packed on busy nights (Fridays/Saturdays). No reservations, but it's a nice area to walk around or check out their cute little store upfront. Been here many times on dates, in large group settings, and even gotten some takeout with a Groupon for a good deal, never any issues! Ambiance was always nice, can get loud and crowded, but it's expected. Service was always great and accommodating. Went here once on a date who already ate, but never got any pressure to order more or get dirty looks. In fact, they even served us a complimentary roll that was baked (maybe a rejected roll but it was delicious baked - great idea for leftovers!). My go-tos at most sushi places tend to be Spider, Rainbow, and Dragon rolls and they were on point here. Sunset roll was also good. There's usually a roll named after the restaurant I'd try, but I didn't see one. The Kusshi noodles were good too, I love udon and stir-frying it gives it lots of flavor - like a thicker lo mein almost, but a bit pricey for udon. Last time I was here with a large group, we ordered a yacht and it was great, they even tried to split it evenly among the two groups of tables. Overall, solid food, great ambiance, and amazing service!!

Kusshi Sushi ruined California rolls for me forever. Once you try their baked Cali roll, it's basically impossible to go back to the standard one again. They put this creamy savory sauce on top that has tiny salty fish roe mixed in it (then I like to add eel sauce for a touch of sweetness) ?. I also guarantee you the Firecracker roll will blow you away! The katsu is nice and crispy. And I love the unagi don. But it's the baked Cali and firecracker rolls that keep me and my friends returning over and over again.
