Ah, The Dough Roller, Ocean City's culinary enigma, where the ambiance of "quaint" meets the reality of "did they clean this table, or did a pizza just melt here?" Awarding it two stars is generous, akin to giving a participation trophy at the Olympics—because, let's face it, showing up is half the battle.Entering The Dough Roller, you're immediately struck by its unique charm, which is a polite way of saying you're trying to figure out if the décor is retro or if time just forgot about this place. The floors have a certain stickiness that could only be achieved through years of dedication to not mopping. It's an adhesive museum of meals past, each step a testament to the thousands who've dined and dashed—not from the bill, but from the ambiance. Then there's the pizza, a dish that dares to ask, "How much grease is too much?" It's as if the kitchen staff believes that oil is just another topping, generously applied to ensure your daily caloric intake is met in one meal. Eating their pizza is a workout for your jaw and a test of your digestive system's fortitude. It's not just food; it's an adventure where each slice brings you closer to understanding what liquid dough might taste like. But let's not be too hard on them. After all, The Dough Roller is consistent—consistently greasy, yes, but also consistently there, like that one friend who never got their life together but is always available to hang out. There's a certain comfort in knowing exactly what you're going to get: a meal that leaves you with a sense of deep, oily satisfaction and possibly a few new stains on your favorite shirt. The service, much like the décor, varies between "delightfully vintage" and "possibly forgotten about." It adds to the charm of the place, giving you plenty of time to ponder life's great mysteries, like why you keep coming back here or whether the table's stickiness might actually be considered a local attraction. In conclusion, The Dough Roller is an experience—a greasy, unforgettable dive into the heart of Ocean City's culinary scene. It might not be the best meal you've ever had, but it's certainly one you'll remember, if not for the food, then for the heroic effort your stomach made in digesting it. Two stars for The Dough Roller, because sometimes, just sometimes, greasy pizza and questionable cleanliness are exactly what you need to remind yourself that life could always be a little bit greasier.

Went for lunch for the nostalgia. We remembered the old Dayton's chicken from when we were kids. We ordered crab cakes and fried chicken. The crab cakes were expensive and terrible. The chicken was heavily breaded and tasted like the frozen chicken you would buy in a grocery store. There were several men standing near our table planning building projects for the bar and speaking in loud voices. The bill was $71.00. We paid the bill and left. Not a good experience.

This is one of those places that feed off of nostalgia, and not actual excellence. It's not 1987 anymore, cheap paper thin pizza served by a Ukrainian teenager with an attitude problem isn't exactly my idea of a great meal. I wouldn't complain if the food was cheap, but it's not. The pizza is basically a cracker with sauce and cheese. Genuinely unappetizing. Service is entirely hit or miss, it depends on what child will be your server. Like I said, nostalgia keeps this place going, not the service or the food.

My wife and I had a really subpar experience here. I thought we had caught them on a bad day due to stopping in during the Ocean's Calling music festival, but judging by the reviews this place us always terrible. Our waitress was trying her best but they had 7 servers and only 4 mobile pads to take orders, so it took over 90 minutes to get an orange crush, after being told that the beer kegs were tapped out (30 minutes after placing our initial order). My BLT was bread, lettuce, and tomato, not a single strip of bacon. Just an overall bland and uninspiring place, with marked up prices. Go elsewhere.

Went for breakfast. Food was ok but it was just French toast with bacon and hash browns. All were acceptable. Service was fast and friendly. Enjoyed eating and watching the activity on the boardwalk.

Do yourself a favor and snack on some thrasher's fries then drive some distance away from the boardwalk. The Dough Roller is a perfect example of what happens to a place with a captive tourist audience- food quality was just terrible. We didn't even bother with a doggie bag for my literal dog. Had the cheese steak marinara, fries, coleslaw for one entree- I tried everything but personally had the taco salad with home made chili and we didn't know it at the time but the fried chicken place around the corner is part of the same establishment - had an order the day before. The Cheesesteak and chicken were just marginal. Coleslaw had a metallic taste to it so we didn't eat it. I had to ask for a re-make as the chicken was so dry it was like jerky- breading was so bland and thin, certainly not famous. I bet you go a block over and ask a local if they know of any famous chicken place nearby and they're just going to shrug. The "house made" chili should be ditched in favor for one out of a can - seriously, I think canned chili from dollar general is better. I gave one star for location and service. Both the waiter and cashier were friendly. On the fried chicken take out stand someone should consider having a chat with the very young staff about etiquette in front of customers- eating, cell use, horseplay/loud laughter is a behind the curtain activity. In summary we won't be back and don't recommend...

We came here on a whim too. Get the kids some easy pizza. We all know how picky kids can be. This place is known for its boardwalk pizza but like a rookie I decided to get something else. I got the chicken parmesan sandwich. I didn't even come with fries considering the cost of $15. I expected the sandwich of a lifetime. I've honestly had a better chicken parmesan sandwich at Wawa. I'll just leave it there. It wasn't bad but it darn sure wasn't worth $15 even for the boardwalk which is known for high prices. At least the service was okay and the ambiance gave me a sports bar vibe. But that chicken parmesan sandwich was slightly burnt and the roll was mediocre. The sauce was good though. I would probably go back for the pizza but that's about it.

Came in with another couple and 4 kids server was extremely rude and acted like we were a burden. Kids were all well behaved, server needs training on being more pleasant to all patrons not adults only.Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly.
