This El Salto is not as good as the other El Salto we went to last week.Average fajitas, tacos and beans. It's like this location is catering to colonizer's taste buds vs authentic Mexican food.

The restaurant was under construction when I visited. I ordered 2 shrimp quesadillas to go. The portion was small. 2 is really 1... it was very salty. Food was made in 5 minutes. I will return to give them another chance.

Taco Bell with beer. Setting that bar high..It was cheap and quick but the quality of what I can only describe as "meat" was bland and lacking. I wouldn't mind waiting more than 5 minutes for my food if it was done fresh. We got combo plates for some variety but the variety is an illusion. They all contain the same basic ingredients covered in some sort of sauce. The chiles rellenos was good but the texture was as if they were made in advance and microwaved. In fact all the food tasted like that. We overheard the table next to us say the same thing. The best thing of the evening was the fried ice cream. The bowl it sits in was freshly fried and delicious. The ice cream itself tasted like it was fried and re-frozen days ago. Imagine soggy flavorless cornflakes wrapped around ice cream. Not good.Bottom line if you love Taco Bell this might be an improvement. At least with Taco Bell I don't have high expectations so when the food is bad it's not as much of a disappointment.Also worth noting. For a busy restaurant with a cuisine from a specific culture we couldn't find anyone inside from that culture. Kind of a red flag.If you don't mind driving to Rosedale, Fiesta Mexicana is so much better. That's my final recommendation. Taco Bell is less disappointing but if you want authentic Mexican food it is worth the 10 minute drive to Rosedale.
