A no frills no thrills Asian bakery. It has your staples like egg tart, bbq pork bun, pineapple buns, and red bean buns. During the lunch time, they have fresh warm rice rolls with either shrimp, pork, or bbq pork for a quick take out meal. They also have frozen handmade dumplings and buns to take home. FYI: It's a minimum of $10 to use a credit card. Super fresh buns and quick service!

I went to this bakery with high expectations due to the good reviews and photos. As soon as I entered, the vibe felt very off. There were no customers in the store and the whole place felt dirty and unkept. I still wanted to try the food so I got a red bean bun, a green tea moon cake, a red bean sticky rice thing (wrapped in banana leaves), and a wonton noodle soup. Customer service was okay. The bun and moon cake were pretty good, but the rice had no taste and the soup was sub par. I was also disappointed as the wontons were shrimp (which I can’t eat) and I didn’t expect that from the menu/pictures. Overall just disappointing :-/

The worker is totally not friendly. You asked questions, she didn't really want to answer you. Don't go there if you want to dine in. No dining available at all. Also don't trust the photos that you see here. It's totally not true.

The lady is being rude also the lady looks like we owe her money. Also when I was trying to look at the bread when I paid for it she told me to go to the other side! Don't come here

Delicious, Hong Kong style pastries and dishes made with love! We managed to arrive just as a fresh batch of egg tarts had come out of the oven. The egg tarts were incredibly flavorful! Looking forward to going back.

Really great, authentic Hong Kong style foods - the buns are especially good. And the egg tarts are so tasty - especially if you get them fresh. The parking lot is a bit tight.

Not sure what’s worse the cashier lady with the resting b face or their egg tarts. So nasty no flavor and cooked like an omelette. I’ve had mediocre egg tarts but this was the worst. You should be embarrassed scamming people. We took a bite and left the other one untouched for her cuz she was so nasty when we asked a question about their promo. I hope you step in every puddle. Also place is dirty

FYI -- Cash only if your total is less than 20. There's also no indoor seating or any eating allowed in the bakery -- to-go orders only! I stopped by with my friend this past Saturday after lunch. Asian Bakery Cafe has been on my list for awhile because one of my friends hyped up their egg tarts here. I picked up a couple pastries and a single egg tart (2.25). The custard in the egg tart was rich and creamy without being too sugary and buttery, which I really liked. The tart itself was inconsistent. One side was really stale while the other side was buttery/flaky. I figured it was fine, given that I bought the egg tart in the afternoon and not in the morning when it was fresh out of the oven. I definitely would recommend the egg tarts here! The roasted pork bun (2.95, I think) which was super soft and fluffy, with a good amount of roast pork inside (thought the coloring was a little too unnaturally red, though). The milk bun (? not sure if that's the actual name) was a lot more stale/hard and didn't have a lot of milk or additional flavors to it. My friends enjoyed it more than I did, though, so maybe a difference in preferences.

I always wanted to try the pineapple mooncake from this bakery since it's my favorite, but they were always out whenever I stopped by. Today, I was finally able to get hold of some, and I can honestly say this is my favorite version of the pineapple mooncake. The crust is very thin, and the pineapple filling is not too sweet, just the way I like it. From now on, this is my new spot for pineapple mooncakes.

Very fresh buns. I really like their roast pork bun. I think it's probably the best you can get in the DMV area.

Drove pretty far to get a nice warm lunch. Walked in was not addressed and when I was about to order the very rude persona at the cash register said: NO EAT IN, just takeout. I still bought a pastry because I was so hungry. We ended up eating at the Thai place two doors down which had fresh food and excellent service.Don’t waste neither your time, your money nor your smile going into this run down place with antagonistic personnel.
