So this is an interesting experience for the DMV area. I've not seen Chinese street food like this anywhere else around here. You order all the skewers you want and they bring them out to you as they finish cooking so it's like a steady stream of small dishes arriving all night. Everything we ordered was pretty awesome. Honestly the eggplant stole the show and this is from someone who doesn't even like eggplant normally. If you go, order it and thank me later. I actually want to come back here and try every single skewer they have.

I went to the shop and ordered a lot of BBQ since I wanted to try them out, but after finishing my order, I still had a decent amount left. I asked the server to give me a few take out boxes so I can bring the rest home. When I filled everything up in the boxes, it was overfilling, the server asked to take it into the kitchen to help package it. After coming out, the food was not overfilling anymore, there was no extra boxes or anything. I just suddenly lost all of the “over filling” food that I had on top, now the box was like only 3/4 of the way full. Yeah…

The food was ok, but the service was horrible when I asked for them to pack my leftover in an take away box. When I put everything in the takeout box myself, it was full to the top, even overfilling. But the server asked to "help" take it back to the kitchen, and after they did that and brought it back. My left overs was not overfilling anymore, yet it wasn't even considered full anymore. Was nice paying for food that I didn't get up getting

Price are a little on the high side but it's the best authentic Chinese skewer place I've had thus far in MD. Great flavor, solid heat on the pepper flakes. Tinfoil bbq also good. I'll be back to try other dishes

Pretty good quantity and quality for the value. I love the big plate chicken, the lobster rice and the tofu minced pork. My go to place to order food in the DMV.

I have never in my life visited such a terrible establishment. I placed an order on the BeyondMenu website and promptly arrived at my pickup time, but the staff were confused when I showed them the order email and scrambling to find it. They had obviously missed the order but didn't admit it or apologize, just told me to wait 20 minutes. 25 minutes later, I go to check and the staff again is scrambling to find my order, and tells me to wait another 20 minutes! Like are you kidding me??! What did I wait for if no action was taken the first time they messed up?? The cherry on top of the whole experience is that I ordered from 'Mala Canteen" (which also has a separate pin on Maps) but the storefront is actually Friendship BBQ and they have another online ordering website with the exact same menu but everything is cheaper there, so if you insist on patronizing this ridiculous establishment make sure you order from there and hope they don't ignore yours as well.

Well decorated Chinese restaurant. We ordered the 2 orders of lamb skewers, grilled pig feet, grilled fish. They were all very tasty. This restaurant is a little bit pricey. Plenty parking spaces in the garage and I think the first two hours is free.

The Worst Chinese restaurant in Rockville! Everything tasted the same: super salty and no flavor. Except the grilled pork feet tasted as sweet as desserts and the Cantonese styled chicken feet tasted as bitter as Chinese medicine.Ma La Tang came out as a bowl of soup instead of skewers dipped in the broth. The beef balls in it had an off taste that were not fresh. The only edible items in our $200/6 person were: salty egg yolk rice cake, deep fried pork strips, pork belly skewers, calamari skewers. They were very salty, but at least they tasted fresh and flavorful. We paid about $35 each among the 6 of us and were hugely disappointed. The menu on their website looks very impressive but is from the previous owner they say so of course not being offered at the restaurant . A lot of items on the menu they gave us were not available. No liquor license either.

Really delicious food! Great soups, and stuff on a stick. Those things in a seashell are to die for!

First time visited on a Sunday evening, it was pretty quiet as we were the only party. This place was so quiet I thought they closed already. They should put some music on for more welcoming atmosphere. We ordered some bbq chicken wings and beef on skew, i personally think the quality was pretty good. In general, my friend said the bbq food and dishes are generally good as well. I saw other reviews mostly saying their services were bad, however I was served very well and had a good conversation with the waiter. I would definitely come back next time with my friends.

Don't waste your money.

Could someone tell me if these two squids are the same thing? Very weak in flavor, too salty to taste any other flavors like cumin. We all know restaurants got hit during COVID, but this is too embarrassing. Recommend those in New York. Will not order from this location in several months hope they could improve …

Just like the other reviews good food small portions! Small warm clean place. They also don’t have a lot of staff so they get slammed quickly. Good spot to try

The food is yummy, but the restaurant set up isn't the best. I want this place to survive so here are some suggestions: 1) Add some music. It's very quiet and the tables are really close to each other so I feel like I can't have a private conversation. 2) Add photos of your food to the menu. Right now, the menu is only in Chinese and English. The English is the literal translation of the Chinese menu item. So if you do not read Chinese, you will have a hard time understanding the menu item. (ex: "Chicken Skeleton" is hard for someone who is non-Chinese to understand) 3) Add some set menu choices. Chinese skewers is a relatively new concept in this area and someone who is not familiar will not know how to order. Add some set menu with chef's choice to make it easier. Hope you guys have more customers soon!
