Absolutely amazing seafood and service! I've never been to a place where they put all the seafood into a bag with the sauce. This was a great experience and the Karen's special sauce they make is delicious!

Food was horrible tasted like it was rotten and was very hard to chew I doubt if it was actually chicken and when I try to get attention from the owners they got angry and told me to never come back and was denied a refund.

We discovered Karen's a few weeks ago & have enjoyed working our way through their nice selection of seafood, homestyle sides & yummy Asian dishes too. The service is exceptional, whether eating in or carrying out. Food that is .meant to be hot & crisp is perfectly cooked! Is Karen's a glamorous dining experience? No. But there are plenty of dishes to choose from and we always leave full and happy. The owners are incredibly nice and they work hard to provide great food & service. Karen"s is our happy place in Silver Spring. Definitely try the hushpuppies! So yummy!If you're looking for an old school, down home experience, this is the place. Check out their menu online.,Vegetarian options: Karen's accommodates vegetarians well. I hope to see more veggie dishes, but I think they can make some that aren't listed. A very nice restaurant! One of the owners named Karen (there are actually two Karens who own the restaurant!) helped me and we chatted while waiting for my take out order. The food was good (fried rice!) and generous portions. Glad we stopped by!!

I went to Karen's Seafood today stated my 1st time here. I tried the Crab Cake was TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED!!! the filling was not pleasing to taste then Lumps of Crab meat laid on top. Sorry for $!4 or for $1 you can't get my business again. So not Pleasing most of all for price you charge too costly for nastiness. So dont eat the Crab Cakes!!!!

Updating to add other things we've tried. The Cajun fries are the bomb. Weirdly enough, I think I had a totally different regular fry than either the first time (when they were perfect) or my second time (when they weren't amazing). Last night they were kind of in between but the Cajun fries were perfect. Maybe they have an inconsistent fry supplier? Not sure.Anyway. They added a barbeque pork appetizer, and for $6 it's a great deal. It could easily have been a meal for me if I ate it all myself. I really like the sauce, and the pork itself was also tasty if maybe a teensy bit dry on the inside (the sauce very much helps with that). I totally want to try the bbq spareribs next time but the pork was very satisfying.Still love the shrimp and catfish baskets, we ended up bringing half of it home. They have a bunch of smoothie flavors so sometime when we don't order an appetizer I want to try one. Hubby had a couple of the old fashioneds, and liked them once he stirred them a bit - they use sugar instead of simple syrup so it fell to the bottom. The diet pepsi from the fountain is still on point.
