I have always loved coming here. Everyone is so nice, it's family owned and service is fast. The food is authentic and the carrot pastry is something special!Kid-friendliness: The environment is vibrant and beautiful, they have a cool fish tank and if you go there for Chinese New Year, they throw a huge celebration!

I can't believe it's taken me so long to write a review about this place. I don't know where to start, so I'll keep it simple: This place is amazing. Go here for Dim Sum, get everything you know you'd like and then get some random stuff just to try it and see if you like it. It's amazing. My family drives here for special meals a couple times a year all the way from Richmond, VA--about 3 hours away if the traffic is decent. And we do it because the food is fantastic. My favorite item are the golden pork buns, but really, there are so many wonderful things on the menu. And it's affordable too! Grab a couple friends you don't mind splitting plates with, because everything has 3-4 pieces per plate. Each plate is about $3-7. You end up incredibly full by the end of the meal, having only spent maybe $60-70 or the whole table. Go try this place!!!

The food was really good, better than most dim sum I've had in the DC area. The great service was the highlight as they were very friendly, food came out right away, and they were helpful with any questions.There's also the option to order fully off your phone and pay the bill online too, which worked pretty well.

Over the years Hollywood East was the go-to Chinese restaurant in the Silver Spring area. Almost always a line to get in, especially on Sunday, for the dim sum. The food and service were always top-notch. In the glory days, on Sundays, Hollywood East, Good Fortune, both In Wheaton, and the Oriental East drew huge crowds from the entire DMV. All 3 were top-notch with their Dim Sum. Then Oriental East closed. Within year came the Pandemic. Hollywood East remained open, along with several others. We ordered take out several times, but quite frankly, the food was just fair, but we felt an obligation to support these restaurants as much as possible during the pandemic. We finally went back to Hollywood East when they reopened. Again, just fair.We returned today for Sunday dim sum. 2 other tables had people. No rolling carts. Menus by Q code. We had to ask for tea. There was but 2 waitstaff and a buslady. We ordered dim sum. And ALL of it was fair to poor. Obvious most of the stuff was 3rd party frozen stuff, which you might find in the bargain area of Great Wall. It pains me to give Hollywood East just one star. Things change, but not necessarily for the better.
