I visited the Thirsty Whale on my recent trip to Bar Harbor and enjoyed my time there. It was the first lobster roll I had in Maine, as well as the first bowl of clam chowder that I had too, and they both were a good example of both of those New England staples. The service was good. My waitress was attentive and friendly, and the food came out quick. Out of all the places I've visited in Bar Harbor, this is the one that has been recommended by the locals. I would definitely recommend stopping in.

In a town as beautiful as Bar Harbor, a place where we ate very very well. The lobster roll made us cry because it was so delicious. We also had meat, both dishes with artisan potatoes. All very very rich. The service is good, you get the impression that the whole town eats there.

Best bar and restaurant in Bar Harbor!!! Great food and drinks!
We got chowder, fried clams, lobster rolls and fish wraps. The chowder was mid, tasted like any other place. The fried clams tasted good, not too greasy and had a chewy texture. The lobster rolls with fries on the side were ok, not too impressive. The fish wraps was really good, highly recommended!!

30 minute wait for our table, (not a big deal). Almost 30 minutes later before we got our drink order. Lobster roll was small. Ordered the curds, but that's not what we got.Southwest burger was.... decent but not cooked correctly.Would I go back? Would have to consider other options first most likely.

You have a dilemma. You're looking for a good place to eat and a good place to have a drink. What to do? The Thirsty Whale has you covered. This place is like your favorite place to have lunch or dinner and your favorite bar all rolled into one.I had been there a few times already for lunch, but not for dinner. Instead of going for my usual grilled ham and cheese, I took a chance on the fried haddock fish and chip dinner, which was fried to perfection. Seriously, it tasted like the fish was caught before sunrise that morning.Anyway, if you're looking for a great place to eat and have a drink, no need to hunt down two completely different places. Just grab your buddies and head on over to The Thirsty Whale.
