We really enjoy visiting the bar during happy hour! The staff is wonderful and they have some great happy hour food deals; the margaritas are excellent! They have a great selection of infused tequilas - our go-to is the pineapple coconut. More safe gluten free options would be an awesome addition!

They closed for a good reason I can't believe they lasted as long as they did! I think the owner just woke up one morning and said I think I'll open a Mexican restaurant without knowing anything about the food!

This owner is truly a piece of work and a great example of how to not treat customers. My family and I will never be back. The owner followed us out to the parking lot to confront us because my elderly grandmother didn't leave a large enough tip. We had a lovely meal, the waitress was amazing.. but to be reprimanded by a grown man and the owner of an establishment for a simple mistake made the entire experience mortifying and embarrassing. I cannot stress enough that had the owner actually come to us respectfully and kindly, we would have been happy to correct a mistake made by a 70 year old woman - but instead it was made into a huge deal and my grandmother cried the entire way home from embarrassment. I felt like I had to let someone know that this was unacceptable, so I sent a message to the restaurant's Facebook account detailing the event and letting them know we would not be back due to owner's behavior and confrontational nature. I received a very rude message back, not only being demeaning, but also insulting me. Trust me, there are nicer and better local places to support. I'll take my money elsewhere and get better food.

The sad part of this experience is that we were giving this place a second chance, and actually had a good time until we were leaving. My 70 yr old mother-in-law was visiting Maine for the first time. We came in with a party of 8. We had a nice waitress, sang some karaoke, and had a decent meal - not the best - but it was a good atmosphere. At the end of our visit, my husband paid the very high bill of about $250! While he was getting the bill, my MIL gave the waitress a $20 tip in cash. Here's the problem, my MIL did not know how much the bill was, and being older, she didn't understand that she should give a bigger tip. Meanwhile, she told my husband that she had already given the tip, but she didn't say how much she had given. My husband, who always tips well, thinking the tip had been covered, simply paid the bill. We would never intentionally skimp on the tip. The next thing that happened, was absolutely shocking! We left the restaurant feeling good, only to be stopped and confronted by the owner. He walked up and said, "so was the food or the service just terrible or what?" We looked at him confused, halfway thinking he was joking, and said that everything had been fine. He then said, "Well, I was just wondering, because the tip you left equates to about 4% off your bill, and I'd like to know why??" (Not mathmatically true btw) This is when we realize what happened. We explained to him, mortified and embarrassed, that we didn't realize, that my husband's mother didn't know how much the bill was, and it was an honest mistake. At this, the guy starts backing up with his hands up, saying, "I'm not trying to be confrontational!" - Dude, you followed us out and confronted a 70 yr old lady about her tip, and we've been totally nice - wtf? My MIL started getting upset and looking in her purse for more money, and gave him more, apologizing for the mistake, she had been really happy about giving the tip, trying to do something nice for her son, and now she was devastated. She cried in the car, and my husband just couldn't take it. He turned around and took 40 more dollars back in with the intention of telling the owner that he was out of line, but we wanted the waitress to have the money, and the owner to understand, that he had humiliated his mother on her first visit to Maine. Our oldest daughter also cried all the way home from embarrassment. It was the worst experience I have ever had. My MIL may be visiting, but we live here, and my husband wanted the owner to know that $40 he took in, wouId be the last they ever see from us. He didn't get to say that because, even though he saw him, the owner would come over to speak to my husband again, leaving that up to the waitress. The whole thing might actually go down as the most rude thing that has ever happened, especially after they just earned $250 for the meal, $20 original tip, $20 more that she gave to the owner after he embarrassed her in front of every person in the parking lot, and $40 my husband took in to make a point. Hopefully $330 for tacos is enough to make that owner pat himself on the back for having people leave his establishment in tears.

We came to Bueno Loco prior to going to the theater, so it was on the early side. The drinks were fabulous and the chips and salsa were very, very good. I had a burrito bowl (trying to slow up on carbs) and it was tasty, the meat might have been a bit overdone, but still very good. The others in the group had standard burritos, and quite liked them!

Ok, so this is a review not so much based on the food, as it is ok, but not five star worthy. Let me back up and start from the beginning.... My husband and I had NOT been to Bueno Loco for years, as the food, service, and everything about it was sub par and we have access to amazing food in Portland, just a few miles away. Flash forward, a month ago- The Minion Movie was released, we went to Falmouth and had time to kill before the movie. Not wanting to travel too far, we decided to give Bueno Loco another shot (like I mentioned before, it had been YEARS). We walked in (just so happened to be happy hour) and sat at the bar. We ordered the steak fajitas to share and a couple of house margaritas. I did ask for if they made their own lime mix, which they do. Hold the simple syrup, and you have an amazing margarita (I am picky, like fresh, and not sweet). As I mentioned, the food is ok, nothing to write home about. What made our experience the five star was Rylee. Having been in the restaurant business for decades, I appreciate great, even good service (as it has gone down hill most everywhere- even pre-pandemic). I can not say enough about Rylee- she knew her s**** She was attentive, checked in, made suggestions, had a smile on her face the whole time, and was busting her butt (some of the her colleagues not so much). My husband looked at me and said, "She is running the place!" We went back again last night, the same experience was repeated - so it wasn't a fluke! I might add that the outside area has been re-done and looks fantastic. The flower boxes add a really nice touch!

Vegan Mexican! Yay!! This was an awesome surprise! Their 3 layer dip (vegan) was incredible, as were the fajitas and quesadilla with seitan & vegan cheese. And the friendly bartender muddled extra jalapeño in my marg. 5/5!!

This review is for the staff of Bueno Loco. We went there tonight for dinner and the restaurant was very under staffed. Felt bad for the server who was trying her best to keep up with all the outside tables. We weren't in a hurry so we just sat back and relaxed. Within a few minutes, the bartender brought out chips and salsa for all the tables, the Owner came and brought taste tests of some of their creations and lit the fires for ambience. He chatted with all the guests and put on great music from his playlist. We felt like we were in the home of friends by the way we were treated...it was awesome! The food was good but the staff was GREAT. For a place that was clearly struggling with a staffing shortage, the ones who were there more than made up for it. A great experience overall.

Very slow service. It took at least 20 minutes after being seated for the server to stop by for our order. We never saw her again until we asked another staff for the bill. It was incredibly frustrating service.

This restaurant is an absolutely delicious hidden local gem of a restaurant that must be checked out. The atmosphere and friendliness of the staff is always above par. The presentation of the food is always appetizing. All ingredients seem freshly made on the spot with fresh ingredients. Outdoor patio seating was enjoyable during the warm weather. Desert options are delicious. There are two Bueno Locos: There WAS the Bueno Loco of years ago, with a large Peruvian and South American inspired menu emphasizing burritos, chimis, and chalupas, and now there IS Bueno Loco, with it's condensed and simplified menu, offering a smaller variety without uncompromising the quality and taste, perhaps even improving upon it. The one major critique is that they used to offer some very spicy, hot,yet flavorful items that are no longer there. It was one of the only restaurants that catered to those intense flavors. In terms of overall and like such as ;) ... this place gets five stars

There's not many places that you can go these days that have it all. But BUENO LOCO has it all. *FRESH* and delicious food, great friendly service, and an atmosphere you don't want to leave. I cannot wait to bring more people with me next time and try more of this amazing food. Thank you for making your food from scratch - it shows and it's really satisfying to enjoy!
