It's hit or miss and unfortunately it's more of a miss way more often than it's a hit. Not even "good enough" to eat. Threw it out. It was either cooked yesterday or several hours ago, or the chef just made a mess of it. Much as I like Chinese food that's a quick drive, I won't be ordering China Rose anymore.

I ordered general tso chicken. And absolutely chewy could not even eat it. Threw it out. So I was like, let me eat egg rolls. Again, it was made in really thick bread. All I could taste was bread. And rice was plastic rice. Staff is friendly, and it is drive-through only.Parking: It's in back of the building, but it's only drive through.

Terrific local Chinese food. We love the scallion pancakes, chicken fingers, pork fried rice, beef and garlic, pea pods and anything else we've ordered. Super nice folks own it. Love their food!

Still not open in dining room 3 years post Covid. It’s sad there is a closed building directly on the Freeport Main Street - depresses the town vibe and makes the town look bad. Huge building with all lights off that could be open restaurant in area that desperately needs more restaurants. Seems like town should not allow empty store fronts. Take out window is too high up and blocks parking lot. Food okay. They need to update website and social media to show they don’t have dining room that is open. They also charge 2.99 fee for online ordering, which is super odd considering it saves them time on phone. Extra sauce they charge extra. Also odd, considering they are charging a lot for food, aren’t serving it to you and are saving a lot of money by just having a cook and one takeout window clerk. Strikes me as greedy.Li’s right around corner is less expensive, better Chinese.

I highly recommend China Rose!!When we moved to Freeport I was SOO happy to have China Rose around the block!! ?I'm originally from the Philly NYC area and trying to find a place that rivaled it... And China Rose does it!I am gluten free and all of their rice noodle dishes are phenomenal, as well as their vegetarian dishes.Vegetarian options: Rice noodle dishes as well. All fantastic.

My low rating is that its web page needs updating. As of today 7/27/23 there is NO dining room service and NO buffet still! And it's a full year AFTER Covid. Ordering Is drive up and pick up only.Food is just OK.Paulette

Love this place… been eating here for years. The review only reflects my irritation that the restaurant remains closed 3yrs into Covid. I understand closing indoor dining during Covid. Maine hospitals are removing all restrictions. It’s time to open up so I can enjoy a buffet without driving to the Brunswick location (which is not nearly as nice). Looking forward to indoor dining ASAP

I used to adore this restaurant. They had a fantastic buffet but now it's only takeout. We still occasionally get takeout but primarily go to Thai Garden now that their dining room is open. It's sad to see a restaurant right on Main Street that is always dark and closed. It looks sad for Freeport.
